Is there a specific term for Mecha with human eyes? It's a thing I see a lot, but I can never figure out if it's a thing Japs name but it seems like one they would.
And before you ask, I'm talking stuff like the EVA units, the various Nirvash units from Eureka 7, Shin Getter Robo and Black Getter Robo, Heroman, etc. They all have oddly "human" eyes that add a much more imposing nature to them.
Eva units are biological so you could just call them part of that subgenre. I doubt there's a particular subgenre for fully mechanical robots that have human looking eyes though.

Obviously it's not a subgenre, but in a culture that has a term for a stray lock of hair that's curled into an almost-circle, you'd think human eyes on a super robot would have a straightforward term, but nothing I've looked into both on the English and nip side of things really seems to discuss it.
I suppose not, Anon. Have some Giant Robo, though.
>Is there a specific term for Mecha with human eyes?
Yeah, it's called "cool as fuck".
Didn't most mecha have human-like eyes until around the debut of Mazinger Z? It specifically went for an inhuman look.
I guess it's whether or not they've got pupils? Like an SD Gundam as opposed to a Gundam.

They did, yeah, it stopped for a while then suddenly re-entered popularity and worked in a different angle as a more imposing feature instead of a humanizing one. Hard to glare with a blank visor, to say the least.

what are some robots that have a will of their own, like shin getter?

hachiroku
I love Dairaioh's human eye.

The lions in the new voltron remake do to some degree.

I just love the shots were the pilots face matches the ferocity of Getter's look as shit hits the fan. A shame we never saw such panels in Ishikawa's manga. Would work wonders for the entire narrative he was pushing through

We have terms like that in English, such as cowlick.
