There were interviews where the director pointed out that a big theme they focused on in Unicorn is parents and children, particularly fathers and sons. Like she points out, she and Banagher are both piloting machines their fathers gave them (and by extension, fighting their wars).

Course in the novel her tale was more developed - she nurses Banagher back to health, they go on a date/recon to Dakar and see the Fed monument (so it actually gets introduced as a thing before the reveal), then she's trying to get her dad to stop the attack on Dakar and gets shot. Which was real smart, killing the girl who's running your defense drones...

I've got two, both from GBF TRY.

First is Lucas who was hyped to all hell and didn't do a damn thing ultimately because he had to job to the stupid rival characters so Sekai could have a final confrontation with them. As has been stated many times here, the particle loss gimmick was totally uncalled for and only relevant there, he wasn't using anything crazy, but apparently while normal attacks drain this totally the Build Burning can just pop out pheonixes made of particles.

What an utter waste of a plotline that called back to Aila's feats, and a shitshow to finally debut Crossbone in animation.

Second is Lady Kawaguchi. What was the point in another Meijin when it's meant to be a prestigious single person title. I get it, marketing appeal, whatever, but she didn't do something worthwhile (in my opinion) to even have the role. She's purely there to act as some motivation for Fumina, which I don't think was worth screwing with how big a deal it was for Yuuki to become Meijin originally. Her Gunpla didn't seem special either.

I'm fairly sure I'm in the minority, but I actually enjoy the changes the OVA made to Loni. Not to say I don't feel like she could have had more presence or purpose, but I like that she was changed to not have personal stakes in the conflict and was only acting on inherited hate. It brings her in line with Banagher, Mineva, Riddhe and even Full Frontal in acting out roles they have gotten from their parents in a war they never really cared about.

Most frustrating thing about her and Banaghers interactions is the amount of soft feely convincing he tries to do once he arrives. Shes already killed several feddies, caused millions in damages, killed probably hundreds of citizens, and he tries to get her to "let go of hatred" and wants her life spared.
Shed be given an immediate execution the second shes out of that mobile armor, if not taken to a prison to be tortured then executed.
