It's not as bad as /m/ thinks it is.
The forced comedy with the 2 guys connecting to the Kaiju brain and Ron Perlman is annoying at times, but overall its a fun movie.
I give points to del taco for showing more realistic, slowed mecha movement than the Transformer movies.

In other words, all he got from anime was "Giant Robots look kewl". I despise bayformers, but the robots in Pacific Rim moved as if the pilots were mentally handicapped.
