>X.B.Sa-G-03 Beam Saber
>The RX-79[G] has two beam sabers, one stored in each lower leg in an internal recharging rack. Once removed and activated, operating time is limited to one minute at normal plasma temperature and saber length. Can be replaced and recharged via leg sub-generator, with a full recharge taking 15 minutes. Typical plasma blade runs at 250,000 degrees Celsius, with a normal blade length of 12 meters +/- 0.5 meters.
>Once removed and activated, operating time is limited to one minute at normal plasma temperature and saber length.
>one minute
Has this rule literally ever been observed? Has a beam saber ever run out of power?
>>15741550
Plenty of times in 0079
>>15741550
Sure, sometimes.
>>15741550
What bullshit place did you get that from? The RX-79 beam sabres are powered through a hand plug in the animation, otherwise they wouldn't control the temperature in this scene through the power conduit in the arm.

And in 0083, Gato ramps up his beam sabre's output to try and overpower Kou in melee, by throwing a switch. The GP02A's beam sabres are battery powered, so there's no connection from the reactor to the sabre. In this case, he's just setting the sabre to a higher output, probably at the expense of battery's duration.
Is this also a beam saber?
>>15741647
Sure.
>operating time is limited to one minute at normal plasma temperature and saber length.
So in theory, If I were a Zaku pilot dueling a Jim, all I need to do is keep dodging and parrying his beam saber with my heat hawk (which is strong enough to completely block the beam by the way despite having no extra protection) for ONE MINUTE, then it fizzes out?

lol pretty sure he got it from 08th MS materials that have been uploaded to a gundam wiki.
anyway there's nothing in your argument that actually necessitates both powering and control to happen at the same time. it's perfectly possible that the link you see here is only for control (on/off switch, power output manipulation) and not about powering it at all.
>>15741672
Okay, but try parrying a sword with an axe-head... through the arms of a gigantic robot that you're piloting. Easier said than done.
Anyway it's been explained that heat hawks produce an electromagnetic field that is capable for sci-fi reasons of deflecting a beam saber.
>>15741618
Beam sabers need stored megaparticles and supplied electricity to activate them. You can have the hand plug deliver electricity and not megaparticles.
Either that or as usual 08th MS team is fucking garbage that's basically an AU since the higher tech RX-78-2 and RGM-79 don't have that sort of feature
>>15741618
If that saber heated up to 250,000C Shiro and that entire wasteland would be fried instantly. What the fuck?
>>15743926
The plasma being 250,000 C doesn't mean the outer edge of it is. One of the European fusion reactors (JET or ITER, I think) has a plasma core at ~100,000,000 K and the inner walls are 200 C.
>>15743978
Well it says blade so I assume it means the entire length of the cutting tool
>>15743980
Typically a beam saber hitting something is going to interrupt the (I-field?) containment and be contacting the plasma directly.
