Honestly, Guyver manga drips out so slowly I don't even care that much that I'm years behind or scanlations are paywalled. I think the best parts of the story have already been told.

Honestly, probably not. The fandom for Guyver is super niche and most of them have bought into the GA thing mainly because they're convinced they're the only people still reading it. Most Guyver fans have been in the game since it started in the 80s and are pushing their mid 30s/early 40s nowadays. If you weren't in it already, you probably never will be.

No. The majority of series volumes (1-25) were scanlated before GA put up their wall and can be easily found.

Most general knowledge of Guyver stops with the 1989 OVA. No one remembers the original OVA/movie (the one with Valcuria), the 2005 series passed under everyone's radar because 2005 was such a big year for anime in general, and the American movies are only notable because David Hayter is in the second one.

GA released volumes 8-29. Volumes 1-7 that are available are usually scans of the old Viz volumes.

The last book to be released is volume 32... And 2 individual chapters after it. The last chapter was from April 2016. So it's been over a year since we've even had a chapter.

This is about as accurate as it gets.

The only way the 2005 anime would have been noticed, is if it really was as violent and bloody as the 1989 OAV. But it was a TV show and based more on the manga... Which is NOT that bloody as the 1989 OAV.

If everything Guyver was like the 1989 OAV, it'd be a lot more popular... Like Berserk... But it really isn't.

And this is coming a someone who has been a big Guyver fan since the 1989 OAV hooked me when I saw it in 1997. ( my collection included. Still waiting on the Guyver 3 figma)

I think another big problem with someone else doing Guyver is that some volumes need some serious reworking because of shit scan and typesetting quality and shoddy translation. The two volumes immediately following the Viz scans are good examples.
