How many references are in this show?

"A lot".

All of them

A crap-load.
I remember the enemy mothership being Macross-lite. Tons of the enemies fighting them have designs reminiscent of old giant robots shows.
They got the voice of Optimus Prime to be the villain.
The girl from the future is wearing Valkyrie shoes.
The hidden superweapon is very much done in the same vein as Iron Giant.
There's that group of notZoids.
And much, much more.

>There's that group of notZoids.
I think the intention was that they were a Sentai team.
That said, the weapon that always springs to mind when I think about the random references of Megas was that time it pulled out what was literally just Combattler V's flamethrower, mostly because it's very unexpected (why that of all things?) but pretty awesome.

It was a Voltron/Golion reference.
>>15735766
They were Gatchaman, right down to the same VAs as Battle of the Planets.

Spinfusors

There's an entire episode with a not-Harlock, and one of his crew members resembles Cobra.

Oh shit
Evil Coop has a Sazabi.
>>15737568
It was like a mix between a Sazabi and a Gundam.
Also, let's not forget Mazinger's cameo.
>>15735439
the SDF1's Macross Cannon pops out at least once
All of Magnanimous's robots resemble either Evlis or Ash (the not so subtle nod to his VA being Bruce Campbell)
>>15737639
oh yeah he played Elvis in that one movie
>>15737643
bubba ho-tep
>>15737639
And a piloted robot body to scale with his head that MODOK used like twice in the 70s.
>>15737649
Was pretty good.

We quite literally could not fit them all in one thread.

>the invincible iron man
>jobs in the fucking cover

Holy shit, Evil Coop had a Sinanju before there was a Sinanju.

Here's a few:

Pretty sure she's supposed to be like a Klingon
>>15741437
>>15737597
>everyone mentions Mazinger
>no one mentions that Raideen is standing next to him
As much as I hate to say it, tvtropes shoutout page for megas covers quite a lot of them
I do have to wonder though...was Coop a protonewtype and/or a technopath considering he modifies technology centuries ahead of his own

He was a nerd.
