I read the first FFS manga after seeing the movie and WHY THE FUCK DID IT CUT OUT THE INTRO FIGHT? Without the prologue the rest of the movie makes no fucking sense.
>>15731678
Apparently the movie cut out the prologue stuff, like that and meeting with Est and Theata, possilbly for timing reasons.
>>15731678
They did show part of it, but it only served to confuse the shit out of everyone because it was too short to provide context. I'm sure it was a time limit issue.
Still, my beef with the movie is that it portrays FSS as a melodramatic shoujo love story when that is one of the few things it absolutely was not. A poor adaptation, and an insubstantial standalone.
It's a fucking beautiful movie nevertheless, with the best soundtrack for any mecha film/TV series I've ever heard.
How do I into FSS?
>>15731678
Do the pilots ever marry their Fatimas?
>>15734502
Well it really can't have helped it. It was adapting the prologue and the prologue did kind of feel like that even if that's totally off base for how the rest of FSS is
>>15734540
Are you retarded? All there is to it is a manga series and a movie that adapts like the first volume only
>>15731678
Either for timing, budget limitations, or because it doesn't really relate to the basic story of volume 1. The movie was more or less made to sell more volumes of the manga and promote Newtype Magazine.
>>15734502
Honestly, the thing with the movie is that when you boil down the first volume to its basic, essential plot, it pretty much /is/ a shoujo romance.
>>15734540
Read the manga up to Volume 11 and hope someone translates the rest. Watch the movie whenever; it's a fun little movie, but the tone of it is noticeably different from the rest of FSS.

How many new volumes have raws?
I'm sure I could commission some adequate translations
>>15734596
It depends if s/he is from other places or his/her choice and personality. If s/he is from Fillmore, loving a Fatima is prohibited.
>>15734971
>How many new volumes have raws?
Every single one from 11-14.
>I'm sure I could commission some adequate translations
Dozens of people have said the same thing in the past 11 years, none of them have delivered.
>>15735039
Why, is it expensive? Couldn't be more than a couple hundred per volume, right?
I'm not emotionally invested in FSS at all, but I know this is something a lot of people want.
I'll get a quote, and if I decide that the warm fuzzy feelings are worth that much money to me, I'll pay for a volume.
>>15735052
>Why, is it expensive? Couldn't be more than a couple hundred per volume, right?
Literally all the scans are online. The problem is that for whatever reason, many of the translators who attempted it were too intimidated by the very colorful Japanese that Nagano uses. Even the most skilled Japanese speakers I know of have scratched their heads in figuring out how to deal with Naganos potpourri of strange naming schemes and bizarre dialect combinations.
I think a better test is to hand one of your translators a volume and see if they want to choke you later.
>>15735122
Maybe I should read this after all, it sounds more insane the more I hear about it
>>15735122
>>15735209
Well and I think part of the problem as well is the sheer volume of text. Every single volume has an ocean of words describing each and every little thing, which would undoubtedly be a formatting nightmare
>>15735052
It's because FSS is a joke, and no one actually wants to read it. Literally the only redeeming thing about it is the mecha designs and those were trashed thanks to that retarded retcon. Thanks to that nobody cares about it anymore, and rightfully so.
>>15734502
>A poor adaptation, and an insubstantial standalone.
Or you know, the source material was a piece of shit to begin with.
>>15734502
>as a melodramatic shoujo love story when that is one of the few things it absolutely was not.
Well some parts were, but generally everything was tempered by tragedy.
>>15736593
>Thanks to that nobody cares about it anymore, and rightfully so.
The original 10 volumes were translated by an official publisher. People didn't pick it up for years because they were afraid doing so would prevent official physical releases from happening. That, and as mentioned before, it's a bear to translate.
>Or you know, the source material was a piece of shit to begin with.
You sound really upset. Did LED Mirage kill your favorite character?
Why are all the model kits so expensive?
>>15737248
Expensive manufacturing and low production runs.
>>15737248
Because they aren't Bandai kits. You Gunpla kiddies are spoiled.
>>15734596
Happens all the time, but the manga puts it into a very gray area that neither condones nor condemns it.
>>15731678
I wonder what this scene looked like in Post-Gothicmade FSS?
This nigger.
>>15741688
I'm like 99% sure that was something the English translator added in, along with the buckets of slang peppered throughout.
>>15741688
Yap, that's how Decors addressed himself as a Black Knight
>>15741512
It would last 30 seconds instead of 3 days and end in a one-hit KO instead of a drawn-out brawl.
>>15737324
Resin is always more expensive than plastic.
>>15743708
>no power rerouting
>no skirt armor purging
>no sweat and piss on the cockpit
sounds damn dull
