I still have all my anime VHS. Even though I never watch them. To be honest, my VHS player is sitting there with a video halfways out, since it got stucked and I don't want to open it and get it out.
Despite the nostalgia for those times, I'm surely glad I don't need to go to the lengths I needed to watch anime back in my day. I remember I bought DYRL with my first salary ever.

I still don't understand how a mecha parody of some girls school tennis series reached this, admittedly not all very high, level of popularity.

That said, Gunbuster itself is a seriously cool mecha design.

It's easy to forget that when Eva started it was "holy shit the Gunbuster and Nadia guy does a robot tv show"
