A re-imagined dark and gritty take on the Gundam universe.
Much like the initial idea behind the Power Rangers bootleg. The child soldiers in Gundam universe are sold to a company as human debris to fight intergalactic wars. These kids have some serious PTSD.
A select number of them are genetically modified on their spines with antennas and ports to pilot Gundam-style tanks. It's super F'd up.
The kids overthrow their oppressors, take over the military unit with the help of an old devil-horned Gundam, and they kill everyone in their path.
There are so many graphic deaths in this series that it makes game of thrones look tame at times.
Bottom line It's super dope !

IBO is actually a perfect choice to make a live action film out of. Its popular with average Americans via toonami, its edgy enough, and, this is the most important part, its not terribly beloved by hardcore mecha fans. So, if Mr. Shankar fucks it up, or isn't "true to the source material", nobody really cares. Its not like he fucked up a 0079 movie.
For these same reasons, a Gundam Wing movie would also make sense. But that's slightly too old and too niche to work.
