Take a look at the Gunpla threads. Two years ago they were a dump for Snapfit-kun to spam images of poorly built HGs until /m/ realized this guy's never going to try to be better, and decided to just report and ignore his shit. Now the threads are actually focused on model making and Snapfit just resorts to posting his discord he made after he got banned from the /m/ one whenever a new thread gets made, only for it to be deleted a few hours later.

Self-moderation is key, but it's hard to do so when 1) The target isn't using a name/identifier (Although keywords like Felcher Gundam or /y/ner make it obvious who it is) and 2) The target is making/posting in multiple threads at a time.

It's been five years since we had a good show to talk about instead of just shows that we generally hate for one reason or another and just watch for the continuing Trainwreck, or shows that are simply mediocre and inspire nothing to really feel any strong emotions over.

The only thing I can see on the horizon that we'll be able to have fun with like the old days is possibly the new Trigger IP and the Gridman anime. Other than that, I don't think I can give a fuck about another Gundam anime in lieu of several interesting new shows to watch each season

I honestly think a ton of these problems could be curtailed if they implemented IDs on /m/. Even temporarily. In an ideal world, the mods would delete the shitposting, but /m/ barely gets looked at by the mods. ID's would make self moderation a lot easier. And it's done through an algorithm not human required.

I'll speak for the Symphogear fags when I say it really fluctuates between the seasons. When a season's airing (Like right now) the threads are good because they're constantly generating OC thanks to new episodes/songs/etc. Basically in 2016 when the last BD for GX came out and the live concert happened and announced S4/S5/a game all they really had to discuss was what could possibly happen in those seasons, what the game could be it's gacha shit but a decently balanced one at that and new doujin releases.

The threads are good right now since it's just conspiring what's gonna happen in AXZ with the new cast and what we know so far, plus the usual complaining about Commie's subs. The fact that we know there's a 5th season after this one lets us know we're not at end game just yet.
