All right, lads, here we go.

Assuming an unlimited budget, access to unequaled talent, and complete creative freedom, what would your ideal Gundam series be like?
>>
It'd be shit.
>>
They already made it, its called IBO
>>
cancelled
>>
A remake of 0079 over three films, with better than unicorn looking animation and art.
>>
Let me tell you that there would be a lot of fucking.
>>
ground combat only
>>
A series following a squad of Zaku II pilots who are all above the age of twenty. The series would show off advanced ground tactics and generally how a group of these mobile suits would engage an enemy if they weren't required by plot to be fucking retarded mooks.
>>
It would be called "Not a Gundam series, instead using the money for an extremely high-budget hand-drawn Braves crossover movie"
>>
Why bother? It wouldn't be more than fodder for more shitposting on /m/.
I'd just pocket the money for myself and buy a million cheesecakes or something.
>>
I would apply the gorgeous animation quality of a show like Escaflowne into a remake of Space Gundam V

If I wanted guaranteed money? Something like Advance of Zeta but set at Jupiter with Scirocco as the protagonist, starting at the end of the One Year War. Lots of customs and variants of existing machines with a few new ones thrown in. The foundation of Jupiter's mobile suit development culture that would eventually grow into what we see in Crossbone (although it'll only cover the years up until before Zeta Gundam and ending when Scirocco leaves).
>>
Interstellar colony wars of late late late late UC where Turn X turns out to be a grunt unit.
>>
A collection of short stories, 1-3 episodes each, all taking place between the existing shows and showing major turning points in history. The colonies leaving earth to explore space in late FC, the start of the war between the SRA and Renpou before AWGX, the first flight of the Tallgeese killing its pilot, Stargazer finding the Turn X drifting in space, the moon getting blown up during the Calamity War, the destruction of the Adeskan orbital elevator, the genocide of the ELS by space whales, that kind of thing.
>>
>>15662617
Kind of a boy and his robot series. A pack of street punks who hang around a colony junkyard find discarded mechs (maybe like mobile worker size, maybe bigger) and the big brother of the group is a whiz kid. He fixes them up and they fuck around with them. One day, the little scrappy kid of the group breaks off from his friends & finds a boxy looking mech with lots of old armor on it that, of course, says "Gundam". He hops in and there's an A.I. inside. Think Dolores, i, but instead of a waifu It's a bro. They hit it off, he slaps some graffiti on it, everyone is having a good time. And then a bunch of suits come and start dissapearing people. They come for his family & friends. Little Rascals all pile into the Gundam and it goes full Iron Giant on them and that's where the show kicks off proper. Little scrappy grows up into an adult version of Garrod Ran, whiz kid older brother becomes a captain, maybe mix it up and the girl of the group becomes a big titty Char clone.
>>
>>15662797
cont.

And I want it to be set during wartime. Like, they all grow up during the war and get roped into it. Maybe Scrappy Doo grows up and realizes that "Adults R Bad", but doesn't become autistic about it. Kinda lighthearted but when it gets serious, it goes all out.

Because I'm such a failure at UC science and politics, my ideal Gundam would be a sequel to G Gundam. Make it about a randy protag who wants to be as strong as Domon and Master Asia.

If it MUST be UC, a short OVA about some random AEUG or Titans pilot during the events of Zeta.

Animate the Calamity War. No right or wrong or politics, just Man vs. Mobile Armors. I recently became aware of The Blazing Shadow, which is exactly the kind of shit I wish they'd start making. I don't know if it's any good or not, but its time period why I really enjoy this second season of Thunderbolt. Lots of time between OYW and Zeta where fun stuff can happen and Bandai just doesn't give a shit. Only interested in making side stories for the OYW. Hopefully Thunderbolt and Axis (shit as it is) are signs that they're starting to milk this stuff too.

>this goes on for the first 15 episodes
>time skip to U.C. 653 (takes fucking forever to get to Proxima Centauri, especially by Gundam standards, where it takes weeks to get to Jupiter from Earth)
>Newtypes wake up from cryosleep, some of their memories are altered, and some suffer from mental disabilities as a result of the cryosleep
>Newtypes get divided into 2 groups based on ideals for plot reasons
>Judau and his group go to war with the other Newtypes
>New mobile suits are deployed, just Newtype-on-Newtype chaos
>Mass bloodshed; heavy damage sustained by the few colonies established there; one colony even gets launched into the star Alpha Centauri
>this makes up the remainder of the show
>Second last episode has a greatly aged Judau looking roughly towards the Solar System with a bunch of scanners, seeing the light from the conflicts following the timeskip showing huge space wars by various unknown factions
>Judau decides that true peace can't be established, even if it's by UNDERSTANDING newtypes, so he commissions scientists and engineers to build Turn X
>unknown amount of time passes until Turn X is finished, then the engineers set the Turn X onto a course towards the Solar System
>Judau passes away shortly afterwards, his Newtype colonies finally at peace
>ties up Judau's story

First off I'd invent a new setting so I can blow it up to hell if I please. Second, no Tominoisms. The show would explore the concept of war vs peace, freedom vs tyranny, chaos vs order, intent vs outcome, and pragmatism vs idealism. The story would be about a supposed utopia where people live under a peaceful tyranny. The setting's "evil" faction would declare it's intent to fight for freedom, causing a schism and war. The "good" faction's civilians would be afraid and outraged that their perceived utopia is being threatened. The protagonists of either side would start off as clashing idealists. As the war progresses they'd both witness and be forced to perform questionable deeds for the sake of their faction. They'd come to consider eachother's ideals. Eventually they'd conclude that nothing is as clean cut as people are told. Stories are just stories. In addition, they'd discover that either faction's leaders are powermongers and scumbags who are willing to commit all sorts of atrocities and sacrifices (other people), and say all kinds of lies. Furthermore, the characters would come to consider common folk worthy of it's fate. In the end the two factions would come together and sign a peace agreement, prefering to conform for the sake of safety than to die for their ideals. At this point the main protagonists have become somber friends who hate their factions. They'd be furious at the peace agreement and speak up against the leadership. They'd be labeled as terrorists and take the blame for almost everything, leaving the factions' leadership squeaky clean. The series would end with one protagonist captured and another scarred and imprisoned.
>>
>>15668429
cont.

Then I'd make a follow up series where war breaks out again and the surviving protagonist is released and thrown back into a cockpit because he is a damn good pilot. The protagonist dons a helmet, completing his transformation into a Char clone. As such his secret goal is to fuck everyone and works towards it through the series. He even leaks information to the enemy so that they hit targets of his choice. In the end the protagonist concludes that order will always eventually crumble into chaos and that the pieces will always eventually settle, creating a new order. Also, wicked people will always claim positions of power and righteous people will always rise up to tear them down, repeating the circle. The followup show would end with the Char clone collapsing both factions, killing their politicians, and fucking off to live in peaceful isolation while declaring that he's had enough of everyone.

Pardon the typos, I'm sleepy af. I forgot to mention that the show would feature various kinds of power suits/mini mechas taking out mobile suits with tactics and heavy weapons in urban battlefields.

Sentient Gundams crash on earth. Military finds most of them in a hibernation state. World Military takes them apart and make their own robots using most of the technology except for the power source. Nations start using robots in warfare.
Our protagonist is a soldier in military. He lived in one of the towns where the "impact zone" happened. Everyone in his town was killed yet he somehow survived. Long story short some type of radiation from the fallen gundams messed with him and he now has faint memories "dreams" of a far off world. He also has a birth mark on his forearm that has a peculiar shape. One day His group is sent out to do some grunt shit or whatever and he ends up back in his old hometown. The soldiers split up and go out into the hills and look for "artifacts". Our protagonists teammate decides to leave him because he's not elite enough or some shit. As our protagonist continues on his now solo mission he stumbles upon a cave. His arms starts to sting when he enters the cave. As he ventures into the cave the cave behind him starts changing into a more metallic material. His arm starts burning. He notices a dim red light beginning to shine on him from the ceiling. Dim red light instantly turn into a red floodlight and releases an insane shockwave. Our protagonist starts to levitate in the air his body limp and the beam of light going straight into his eyes. A flood of pictures start racing through his mind. He sees the Gundams descending to earth. He sees the Gundams home planet.
He sees what the Gundams were running away from.
Another shockwave rocks the cave, the light disappears and his body falls to the ground. He falls unconscious as he hears more of his fellow soldiers getting closer to the cave.

Then he the series shows us how he goes to the infirmary and a scientist notices his birthmark. Is released from infirmary. Is curious about what happened in that cave and returns. Explores deeper into the cave and unearths a Gundam.

It'd take cues from Macross and Space Battleship Yamato and expand the scale of Gundam to an intergalactic level. Start off with the backstory.

Our world at constant odds with one another. not a day goes by without hearing about armed forces cashing across the globe. Humanity has not been able to see eye to eye with one another for decades... until now. Mysterious invaders entering our solar system, and humanity must unite, and pool their resources in a war of attrition; space fighter vs. space fighter, until the war reaches the turning point: the introduction of the Mobile Suit. Humanity manages to drive their attackers off, and a tentative peace has been attained for the first time in ages. Tensions are high, and the alliance that formed to defeat is threatening to fracture... until our invaders return, armed with mobile suits of their own.

This time, the combined might of Earth's forces is no match, and what's left of Humanity is forced to flee their home planet, and watch as the Earth is destroyed. We focus on one of many interstellar fleets, whose goals are multiple in number; find planets suitable for colonization, advancing their mobile suit technology, finding the Invader homeworld, and ending this intergalactic war once and for all.

I wouldn't make one series; I would instead expand on existing ones, remaking them if necessary.

500 episodes of Gundam SEED, remade into the UC rival it nearly was. Change up much of the crap that was Destiny, and expand into the sidestories as well as a post-Destiny sequel.

100 episodes of AGE, properly spacing out the generations every 30 episodes with the last 10 being a proper climactic battle and resolution. Extra money will be spent actually advertising the more exciting wears and model kits.

Do a prequel 00 series focusing on the solar wars and early CB maneuvering that led to the final 3 power blocks, then the Innovator war that happened between the end of the ELS war and Setsuna's return. Get someone to animate the 00 sidestories, and get a less gary stu protag going there.

In all cases; put more effort into Gunpla of various side units along with model codes that can be used to claim parts in the Gunpla mix-and-match video game.

Remake Cross Ange into a 50 episode Gundam series expanding on the dragon side of the conflict and more character building, just for shits and giggles and see what happens in the end. Since all the machines would end up being Gundams, there would be no problems in marketing them the way the Strike has been endlessly whored out (moreso since aside from heads; it's mainly different equipment). As well, drag out more Nana Mizuki songs.

In all cases, top level VAs and J-Singers would be used, along with aggressive merchandise marketing beyond Gunpla, including literature, music discs/DLs, figures, and even porn. We will offer official porn under an umbrella name and make money off that too.

>>15662617
Set many millenniums in the future in a far away Solar System, 2 planets fight each other for control of the third neutral technological yet mysterious planet between them. All pilots use mass produced suits and ones that are recognized as ace pilots get to have their MS granted the Gundam Upgrade by using technology from the mysterious planet and customized to their liking. Behind the scenes there is one malevolent being in control of the planet and manipulating both sides to fight, allowing access to the planet's tech in order to kill each other faster and eventually control both sides.
MC is a regular 20 Year old pilot who manages to kill an ace pilot and receive the Gundam Upgrade. Over time in story his consciousness blacks out and kills important characters both friend and foe, revealing to be a sleeper agent brainwashed by the malevolent being and swears revenge on those that made him who he is now.
Solid and Beam weaponry go hand to hand, used in many ways in both Space and under Atmosphere. Battles have less emphasis on dialogue and more on combat. No Newtypes or any expy of it. All MS are smaller than 15M, generally has 3-5 reactors and transform into land based vehicles.
>>
>>15662617
engineer with a hate for newtypes (killed his family, dishonored, inferiority complex, I dunno some kind of motive) goes on a rampage. picks off pilots with any detectable newtype power, regardless of side. I'd say post CCA era.
gets a price put on his head by the Federation, has some small scale fights with ex-military bounty hunters with various history across UC.
Main suit has internal psycommu jammers, rather than used to block powers offensively it's used to shield the pilot from the outside newtype communication and mindfuck. gets some kind of spooky nickname from the newtype pilots for the eerie silence that they're not used to in combat.

another idea:
someone discovered a way to re-enable long range radio communication even under minovski presence, and proceeds to remotely awaken war machines from the pre-minvoski era and steamrolls the EFGF who have adapted to mostly short-medium range gear. MC and co in [white base clone here] are tasked to hunt down 'the operator group' with clues found in some of the damaged machines. they encounter tools of war unseen since the earth sphere ended country-based war.

I'd like a movie or OVA that focused on some aquatic/naval battles in UC, maybe post Zeta/ZZ. A group of ex-Titan military and fed politicians try to secede from the Federation or something and gain control of some nukes. They team up with some neo zeon remnants and a standoff ensues. The Feds send a group of submarines led by one their best sub captains, one of the few naval commanders to survive the OYW. They'll have a new aquatic Gundam and new grunt units along with their old aqua suits and recolored Zeon MS. The rival friend of the gundam pilot would use a new EF mobile armor with zeon style mono eye. The enemy would have new MSV versions of their suits along with a huge MA for their ace. After some battles with the Zeon fleet they get in range to nuke the rebels but lose comms with command due to minovsky interference. Infighting between the navy happens between those who want confirmation and those who want to launch the nukes. This leads to a final battle between the gundam pilot and his friend in the MA with lots of drama. At the end they find out that the rebels already surrendered after a short battle since most of them didn't have the will to fight the feds and one of the zeon commanders made a deal to get his team back to side 3.

Our Zeon analogue is made up of long lost space aristocracy who fled Earth after a huge revolution, and ended up delving heavily into biotech and genetic engineering after finding alien remains on their sojourn. In the area of space closer to our solar system, Earth has gone through a succession of waves of colonization and subsequent separatism. It is only in recent decades that the core settlements have regained control over those further out in a series of unification wars, forming our Earth Federation analogue. The Earth Federation is formed as a Democracy and there is explicitly a branch of government dedicated to representing different industries, which is heavily tilted towards core settlements over rim settlements because they tend to be larger than rim settlements and use their economic leverage to make rim settlements race to the bottom with supplying the core with resources. There is still some leftover resentment over these wars and the political setup, when the Earth Federation and Zeon analogues stumble upon each other. The first few years of contact are peaceful with the Federation establishing a research colony to observe what they see as an alien society, and though some researchers quickly realize the human identity of the Zeon analogues. Internal Zeon politics over whether to invade the Federation commoners or just take their technology and otherwise ignore them blow over when the emperor is assassinated and the royal family kidnapped. The military faction quickly take over and disperse opposition and begin to invade, using rim settlement tensions to ingratiate themselves against Federation leadership over the course of the war. Also, our minovsky particle analogue makes interstellar travel possible through creation of portals, but are dangerous because if not careful during travel, people's souls can stray from their bodies and cause them to die. This will lead to lots of fun psycho dreamlike Newtype scenarios we all know and love.

Have it be a 3-4 MS squad with a landship or command vehicle kind of thing with a skeleton crew for the bridge/mechanics. MC starts off as an average grunt but is made an ace after participating in a big military push. Hints of an actual Gundam/group of gundasms are made through the series with the cast initially thinking it's just enemy propaganda, but last two episodes have them come face to face with the White Devil.
