I'm usually pretty weary of CG anime, but this looks pretty good... in fact it looks better than a few CG anime movies I have seen (Cyborg 009 for example). I can't say I've seen another TV CG Anime that looks quite like this. Tatsunoko must be going all in. Hope it doesn't bite them in the ass.

I think Japan is in a good standing with CG right now, Kemono Friends and the BLAME movie, the new Godzilla movie, and ID-0. What really matters is how the writing holds up.

HAIYOOOO had the best CG.

Bad example.

I was not using it as an example of good CG quality, but that Japan accepts CG shows much more warmly than the west. I think I missed the point OP was trying to make, though.

Oh no it had bad CG but it FIT the whole anime show. and had some purpose. because its super kid oriented and gave it more charm.
But bad CGI in a serious anime absolutely terrible combo

>because its super kid oriented and gave it more charm
that being said it's really super manchild oriented.
It was on air after midnight. Considering the pricing on all merchandising and targeted customers it's NOT really for kids at all.

After watching KF and FAG I'm much less hostile to CG as a concept. It does however have to be applied properly. KF was successful because they didn't try to completely emulate high quality 2D animation and (at least after the first few episodes) it came together with the other visual elements and general presentation to provide an overall endearing final product. FAG used it to drive home the whole idea that they were plamo first and foremost, making the scenes where it switches to full 2D all the sweeter, mostly to emphasize their human traits.
Honestly I'm just saying CG isn't inherently bad, just misused.

Gatchaman Crowds did it better.
