Is Getter Robo Go a real robot series at heart? There are still a lot of unrealistic shit like mecha dinosaurs and weird lovecraftian looking enemies, but some of the situations in it were treated with a degree of realism that's unseen in other real robot series like Gundam and Votoms.

>Is Getter Robo Go a real robot series at heart?
No
It's just an example that even the old school greats don't really pay attention to those silly robot categories.

That's because Gundam is a steaming load of vapid refuse.

Learn to not care about it, because it's too much bullshit to be worthwhile.

Getter Robo Go is one of those series that completely destroys any argument about what constitutes super/real. It's got all of the elements of a real robot series and the mysticism involved is on the same level as Gundam magic. But the aesthetics of the mecha are what is considered generally to be super robot, so it really triggers real robot fags.

No. It's borrowing elements from both sides
It's just applying a war setting to super robot aesthetics. Don't overthink it. Ishikawa probably wasn't worrying about how it would be categorized in future video games.

Don't play dumb.

I think what really makes a robot super or real is the setting, but probably also the robot designs since most people tend to focus on that.
