Why Tomino decided to shit on him so much?
He could be such a great character.

As the rival, he had to follow Char. He had none of Char's charm, none of the combat prowess (supposed or real), and his motives weren't very powerful like getting revenge on the family that killed your's.
>>
He was a great character because in the end he was really just a jackass idiot who Kamille left in his dust, not in spite of it.

Mourar was best girl.

Yeah she was pretty nice, turned down Paptimus to stick with Jerid.
>>
>>15629966
>motives weren't very powerful
His motives are actually much more powerful because unlike Char we actually see the people he cares about die rather than just being told about it
>>
I feel really bad for him watching the show.
>>
He would have been fine if he had never triggered Kamille's autism
>>
>>15630002

>being told

We see Lalah and Zeon die, though. Granted, the latter isn't in the original show, but even then.
>>
>>15630048
We see the latter happen in the first few episodes when degwin leans in to him.

Jerid was a rat bastard with severe anger issues that he couldn't control. He let them consume him over the course of the series as the polar opposite of Kamille, who literally couldn't be bothered with the guy by the end because he had way more important shit to deal with and knew it.

The reason he is a great character is because he got shit on so much. Sort of like an anti-Char.
>>
>>15629966
>>none of the combat prowess

He was legit good when piloting the Byarlant.
>>
>>15629962
He was great though. He served to show what would've happened to Kamille if Kamille never learned to get over petty shit and realize there are way more important things at hand than revenge over dead parents and waifus.

My favorite part about Jerid is that there are actually random little hints in the series he wants to be a decent guy. I recall during the Jaburo Operation him trying to evacuate with a bunch of Federation soldiers and telling them if they worked together they could all make it. He also felt genuinely bad about killing Kamille's parents, and apologized for it. It's just he ended up drinking the Titans kool aid way too hard and ended up being a complete asshole instead. He probably could have swayed one way or the other but got infatuated with power.
>>
>>15631390
doesn't that imply it was the machine that contributed more to his combat performance than his own skills?
>>
>>15631390
He was good in the gabthley too
>>
>>15629962
>He could be such a great character.
That goes for every Zeta character, sadly. Zeta just shat the bed.
>>
>>15631498
>He also felt genuinely bad about killing Kamille's parents, and apologized for it.
Wait, what? That never happened. When he found out for sure the capsule contained Kamille's mother, Jerid waited outside the room for Kamille so he fun of him.

https://youtu.be/itYa37BnPFw?t=668

>Your mom! Your dear mommy!
>I had no idea that your mother was in that capsule.
>It must be hard, since you're still a baby (exact line says something about Kamille's mother's titty)

And then he taunts Kamille, egging him on to try and punch him like he did at the Green Noa spaceport, except two Titans crewmembers are holding Kamille in the hallway so he can't do anything but struggle.
>>
>>15629966
>He had none of Char's charm

You know what? Im just going to say it. Char was a colossal faggot whose only famous for being the first rival. He was a bitch who was constantly schooled by a complete rookie and his custom zaku was less RED comet and more Salmon Pink faggot

>>15631578
So by your logic, Jerid had ALL of Char's charm then?
>>
>>15631572

Not him, but I think Jerid did feel a bit bad about it, but was more upset that Kamille was upstaging him by beating on him in the Mk II afterward and reverted to his usual asshole personality to make himself feel better. He has no idea there's a person in the capsule he releases and just think it's a bomb, when it doesn't explode or damage the Mk II he says he feels uneasy about not knowing what's going on and when he sees Kamille's dad hitting him for giving out about what had happened, Jerid leaves.

The scene you're on about though, where he taunts Kamille for being upset his mother died is basically the turning point for both characters though and a great scene because of it. Up to that point Jerid is a go-getter with his eyes on being in charge of the Titans, while Kamille is really petty and emotionally unstable, focusing on minor insults to the exclusion of all else. Both are reckless and take no responsibility, but they differ in the scope of their desires. It's Kamille's desire to hurt Jerid in some way and take revenge on him though that makes him realize that he has no need to focus on Jerid and should really be focusing on the Titans, while Jerid becomes obsessed with getting back at Kamille and regaining his honor as a soldier; which he justifies by saying he needs to do so before he can move on and that he has to do it before he'll be allowed to move up in the Titans. He never does though, he just becomes increasingly bogged down in a grudge match with someone who doesn't even care about him any longer, and his pettiness highlights Kamille's growth.

There was also the part when Scirocco promotes him as a squad leader and he tries his best to be a mentor so Sarah and that other girl
Except it all falls apart when that other girl gets killed in combat and Sarah becomes a mega fangirl of Scirocco
>>
>>15629962
Was he not the guy that they turned into Furu Frontal?
>>
>>15631477
You say that as if Kamille didn't go full retard in the end against Scirroco and got himself put in a coma as a result.
Yeah, he learned but he couldn't save himself despite it in the moment that mattered.
>>
>>15631578
Bitch.
>>
>>15633041
>and that other girl
>girl
I'm pretty sure the VA was a girl but that did NOT look fuckable.
>>
>>15631578
But Char had lore behind him. Literally the first time we hear someone mention his name, everyone starts shitting their pants over Char. His first fight agianst the Gundumb proves Amuron only won because the Zaku is not good enough.
>>
>>15634753
Any clear screens of Siddeley?
>>
>>15634846
Can't find any screens on google but every forum post calls her a girl, some of them use the word masculine though.
>>
>>15630393
What's that from? Define?
>>
>>15634784

And his last fight against proved that the Gundam wasn't what mattered in the end.
>>
>>15629962
Why so smug?
>>
I haven't watched CCA yet but some /a/non mentioned that the last fight between Kamille and Jerid is basically rehashed in Amuro and Char's final fight. Is this true?
>>
>>15629966
His rivalry with Kamille was a totally different story. It started out as a completely non-serious childish grudge, then just kept escalating. And while the hero could learn to let go of the cycle of violence and hate, the villain could not. And that's what made him the villain.
>>
>>15638954
He's happy that his parents didn't hate him and gave him a man's name.
>>

Who made the Baund Doc cry?
