What are "Zeon design principles?"

I'm reading up on some mobile suits from Zeta and a lot of the Titan suits like the Rick Dias are described as having Zeon design principles with Fed tech. What is the difference in their design principles outside of visual design?

I meant to say AEUG, but the point still stands

Better cockpit and hip armor. Shields on the shoulders. Not sure what else there is beyond that.

Monoeye stronk

I remember reading something on the wiki that said that Fed suits built their suits from the inner frame out, putting more of a focus on the reactor, probably because their main edge in the OYW was beam weapons. Zeon type suits focus on the armor shell then build in, probably to make them cheaper to mass produce.

I have no idea if this is right.
>>
Monoeye, power tubes, bulkier, more rounded appearance, etc. Stuff zeon typically likes to work designs around.
>>
They really seem to value armor, even after the OYW when every suit started carrying beam weapons. While this seems like a waste at first just think of all the time's you've seen GMs take critical damage from blunt force or just running into something.
>>
I feel like they're always trying for more daring designs, dedicated specialists, and limited-production high-performance suits.

Compare to the Federation, which is always producing heaps of generic grunts and most of its specialists suits are derivatives thereof.

Obviously not -always- true, but it seems to hold as a more general trend.

Projectile weapons are still pretty popular in Z, ZZ, and beyond. It's not even just blunt force and stupidity that they have to protect against. Better to have thick torso armor and survive a cannon to chest than be the sucker that died because "armor? Beam weapon meta, bro!"

It seems to be less about armor and more about internal space. The EF was better at making their stuff compact and basic while stacking additional equipment onto the outside as needed while zeon needed the internal space for additional thrusters, integrated weapons, bigger reactors, propellant storage, etc.

Just take a look at the difference between the GM nightseeker and the Kampfer. Both were intended for basically the same role of blitz attacks behind enemy lines and are made to be high thrust ms. The EF went about this by taking a GM and adding thrusters to it in a kind of optional equipment pack, a new gun, and a sensor attachment. Everything is just sort of added on top of the base design and keeps it relatively as compace and lightweight as most GMs. Zeon went about this by designing a new ms with a bunch of integrated thrusters all over, kept the armor as thin and minimal as possible, and still ended up with a relatively bulky ms because the thrusters take up a bunch of space.

I feel like comparing the Nightseeker to the Kampfer is kind of like comparing a GM to a Gundam. Federation took a base GM and threw shit on it, and Zeon made what they considered to be the penultimate hit-and-run supersuit.

A better example would probably be the GM Cannon and the Zaku II Cannon, ignoring the supposed failure of the latter.

Just look at your pic related
>comparatively heavier armor
>more thrusters around the body
>exposed power cables and postons
>sloping armor and curved surfaces with overlapping plates instead of boxes
>long skirt
>flared legs with wide feet
>spikes
>monoeyes
>>
Just keep making the legs/feet bigger. Oh the legs are bigger/thicker than the torso? That's normal.
