Are there any other detective /m/ stories than Big O?
I'd love to see something like picrelated
tetsujin 28 (2004) is in some ways a detective story! it is worth a shot regardless

Robot Detective Keiji

also patlabor might work

Steam Detectives, of course.
Also, J-Decker occasionally has a bit of that.

Big O was a detective series?

More unconventionally, I'd suggest Bryger. It's basically The A-Team in space and involves plenty of snooping around to find the best way to solve their clients' problems as such

Not quite, but it was a film noir mystery series and Roger's occupation basically was private investigator in all but name.

Without Mr Addison and Maddy Hayes you're out of luck. The chemistry between those 2 characters is what made Moonlighting fantastic.
You ain't gonna find something like that in anime.

The occasional episode of Patlabor, especially if they let Oshii in the building that day
>>15612070
Among other things.

>wanting garbage
Why?
>>15612017
Pluto, which is also getting an anime soon

>one episode for each volume
No wonder it took so long to get off the ground, that plan is nothing short of pure insanity.
Winspector and Solbrain have a lot of investigation episodes but there is no real unresolved romantic tension between the male and female leads like Moonlighting.

I think Ghost in the Shell tends to be a detective story

The movies are just naval-gazing pseudo-intellectual masturbation, but yeah, the TV anime all have more or less police/detective arcs
