What's up with the Gouf? It was the first non-Zaku villain MS introduced in the show after like 20 episodes of just Zakus. So we finally get a new enemy machine, and its literally just a blue Zaku.
Was it just for the sake of being realistic, like how fighter jets all look so alike, or what?

That's no Zaku boy, no zaku

If you're building off a previous machine in wartime you recycle what works and improve what doesn't. Machine guns were shit, getting fucked by beam sabers was shit, and low mobility was shit. And the Gouf was born.

Because it was basically supposed to be a true version of the ground zaku, made by the same froup as the zaku and everything. The zaku was built for space and zeon didn't originally plan for a ground invasion. Then the treaty happened and they suddenly had to commit to a ground war and as it turns out the zaku II was subpar for it. Even the ground type (J type) was just the space type (F type) with a bunch of the unneeded verniers and extra thrusters stripped out to lighten it up.
So Zeons different MS developers scrambled to secure the new big contract for a ground dedicated ms and the gouf was the first to get produced, but then its rival company quickly overran it with the Dom.

That's no raptor boy, no raptor.
Faggots. Gundam isn't real. The robots aren't real. Anon wants to know why the cartoon designers made the first new bad guy toy a repaint of the old bad guy toy.

it looks better orange

Can reuse the molds from the zaku to make more toys, just paint it blue.
>literally
Not quite.

It's the Dom's predecessor
>literally
Wrong.
