From a story perspective nothing was served from killing them all. I liked Victory a lot but I can understand what Tomino is saying when he sometimes says he doesn't consider it good, far too much of the plot was self-serving his frustrations at the cost of narrative and thematic coherence.

I think the rumor is that some executives were like 'Hey put in a group of all female pilots into the Gundam show we demand it' and Tomino was like 'Ok *kills them*'. I've never seen any source for this, but Tomino has said in interviews that Victory was plagued by creative interference, so I could see it being possible.

Many /m/en want to be the kind of person who watched all of gundam, it's like a batch of honor. But it's not really the best ride in the world, so they procrastinate and only get to it when they notice there is conversations to be had here or someone sells the show to them. That's why you can always see a 3 to 4 month period when certain Gundam shows become super popular topics. We're moving out of a multiple daily F91 threads stage and that same people are now finishing Victory.

Obviously others are starting it right now, or picking it up again. But they will be drowned in the G Gundam threads. Or maybe theyll skip straight to After War
