Katoking did good.

>>15593487
Can't wait to see what its crippling faults are when it actually comes out that ultimately makes it not worth a purchase, like all ver ka kits
>>
I'm just not a fan of the ZZ

This is the origin of "clusterfuck"
>>
Color me impressed, it's a massive improvement over the original.
>>
>>15593610
I always felt really indifferent to it, in show it seemed like a brick that was a step backwards from the Zeta in every possible way. This actually looks respectably beefy, like it justifies how strong the ZZ is meant to be.
>>

>>
>>15593492
>Gundam ver Ka worse range of motion than the 1.5
>Wing Ver ka completely changed the proportions from the original design for no reason, looks awkward with hunched shoulders
>Crossbone ver Ka shit hard plastic joints that wear out in a few weeks if you move than more than 10 times
>Unicorn ver Novel/Ka shit articulation almost no motion on the knees
>Sinanju ver Novel/Ka waist peg always breaks
>Victory ver Ka hand grenade
>V2 ver ka hand grenade with no waist movement

I'll give him the Hi-Nu but when he absolutely should not be in charge of engineering. It's clear he has no idea how to design toys or how material and mold engineering works. Yeah I get it, he redesigned most of the HGUC and early MG kits but that was just art. Ver Ka is unique because he's explicitly in charge of the line and he's fucked up almost every single one of his own name brand kits. I mean just look at the FIX figures, absolutely horrid because he wants them to be art pieces first, they're basically McFarlane "action" statues.
>>
>>15593637
What about the Nu, Sazabi, FAG and Psycho Zaku?
>>
>>15593652
N-no those are actually good, K-Katoki sucks so don't m-m-mention them!
>>
>>15593652
To be fair, while I love the Nu ver. Ka to death and it was impressive as fuck for its time it did have a few issues. The biggest being the hands were kind of crap, especially as the wrist joint couldn't support the weapons properly. And the funnel connections to each other were notoriously weak to the point where people were standardizing methods to fix them (tape across the inside back, metal pin through the whole joined section). It just did a fuckton well that overshadowed its flaws.

THIS.

>All of these kits went for broke with crazy engineering and unique builds.
>This is somehow bad.

I don't know about you, but I'll take an interesting build over Generic Master Grade Gundam Frame #123.

Also "hand grenade" is the worst complaint in existence. Just fucking glue it, you baby.
>>
>>15593637

>Gundam ver Ka worse range of motion than the 1.5

Don't forget that it actually reuses the runners on the MG GM Kai, so any faults related to structure, proportion, and such is also attributed to Bandai's laziness

>Victory ver Ka hand grenade
>V2 ver ka hand grenade with no waist movement

I actually want to buy those since I like the designs, should I assume if I ever buy and build them I should just put them in a static display and leave them there?

>>V2 ver ka hand grenade with no waist movement

the victory gundams dont have waist joints at all, period. its not part of their design and never was, even a basic look at the transformation would have told you that.
>>
>>15593869

I know since I had the old 1/100 HGs when I was a kid and they had none either, I guess I should've not pasted the "no waist movement" part when I want to ask how fragile the MGs are
>>
>>15593637
>>Crossbone ver Ka shit hard plastic joints that wear out in a few weeks if you move than more than 10 times
The inner frame (which include the joints of course) was based on MG F91, which isn't a Ver.Ka model just like RX-78 as other anon mentioned.
>>
>>15593869
Man, when are they going to release the Assault and Buster packs for it?
>>
>>15593799
>I should just put them in a static display and leave them there?

Yes. That's half the reason the MG Core Booster even exists, to give you more shit to put on the V so it looks cooler standing/floating there.
>>
>>15593610
clusterfuck incarnate
>>
>>15594124
Never, not even P Bandai can save it. That's how much the nips hate Victory.
>>
>>15594124
>Man, when are they going to release the Assault and Buster packs for it?

WOAH they still have not released a Assault Buster for the Ver Ka V2?????

That is crazy when you look at the P-Bandai stuff they released for the Ver Ka Nu and Hi-Nu

I'm guessing the Ver Ka V2 sold really bad??

It's also the origin of thicc Gundams so you can fuck right off.
>>
>>15593487
Looks cool but will probably be a huge grenade with all those little vents and the transformation. Will still have shit articulation and wont be able to hold it's gun too. Even still, It'll be a huge step up from that all MG.
>>
Do you guys actually "play" with your kits?
>>
>>15593637
You want toys, go for HGs or Robot Spirits figures.
MGs and MG Ver.Kas are poseable statues.
>>
>>15597105
But MGs usually have better articulation than HGUCs and longer lasting joints.
>>
>>15593487
>chest antennae
Only problem I have with this. Someone needs to update "you got Katoki'd" with chest antennae.
>>
>>15597078
In a sense. It's mostly them just making poses at each other in a combative manner and shooting with imaginary beams/bullets from across the room.
>>
>>15593487
It's about as good as it's possible to make ZZ look. I feel like there's an attractive thin Gundam inside ZZ struggling to get out. Like, throw out the stupid backpack, shoulder pads, arm things, and the Transformers-tier gun accessory and then we might have something.
>>
>>15593627
Even as a fan of the Double Zeta, when you compare it to the Zeta, it just doesn't feel like the next step.

Sure, the blockiness and bulk is justified by the use of a Core Block System, meaning they had to lose some of the form for more function, as the three components all could theoretically fight on their own, on top of the Double Zeta's G-Fortress configuration, but lacking the ability to attain atmospheric reentry by itself.

But the question is, why bother using a Core Block System? Did they just really not want a situation like Kamille happening?
>>
>>15597105
>MGs are poseable statutes

"I have never built a Gunpla in my life"
is what your post says.
>>
>>15598735

I wish the core block idea had been used more to show Judau's newtype strength, by having him remotely control them like funnels before combining or even tactically at times to out maneuver enemies the ZZ can't take alone. I think he does control them once or twice, but only in really simple ways and not really using them as funnels, while they were mostly used to involve the rest of the Gundam gang in hijinx and drama.
>>
>>15597949
>all mechs must be generically skinny
>>
Hyped for this, moreso for the the idea of a FAZZ. But I'm still not a fan of the giant backpack or the transformation, but I don't like any kit that sacrifices articulation for a transformation two people will do. Lookin at you V2 ver Ka

I have built many Katoki kits and they are all very stable and have amazing posability. With the exception of the horrendous Victory kits, his one blunder.

>>15597078
Yea, not a lot but you don't get a good pose instantly.

>>15597105
A lot of my RDs actually have loose joints and I find that gunpla tend to have better joints. The spring pins are a good idea but seems like there's at least one badly loose joint on most of my RDs.

>>15599069
Dude the Zaku 2 2.0 and Turn A are some of the most poseable figures you'll find even among mecha toys, and mecha toys are generally among the most poseable. If you're not playing with your Zaku at least a little you're missing out.

>>15599073
I think his Unicorn is the worst. I had it fall apart on me after a few transformations and it really can't pose for shit. I hope they make a MG v2 based on the PG
>>
>>15596976
Give it the ZZ's armaments and I'd have preferred this over the plain ZZ
>>
>>15599117
To be fair he'd have to do quite a bit of redesigning for the Unicorn to have better leg articulation without it looking like shit (see: PG and RD Unicorn knees)
>>
>>15599253
The PG looks fine though, I just don't care for that scale or price. They already changed it in the TV version so they might as well fix the entire thing so it can pull off the poses it does in the show.
>>
>>15599117
Once I build my Gouf Custom I'll probably have it and the Zaku playing rock-paper-scissors.
>>
>>15599139
half of those FAZZ armory are just there for literal decorations to scare off the enemies

For me it's always been the color scheme. I don't feel the classic Gundam colors work on the ZZ. Two main colors at most, otherwise it ends up looking like a bad 80s toy.

Silly anon, Gunpla are designed to be handled like action figures, and require almost nothing extra like paint to be complete.

Look at other mecha model kits and you'll understand just how different Gunpla is from everything else.
>>
>>15599281
second one is perfect
>>
>>15599307

I was going for vaguely G-Saviour colors.
>>
>>15598735
It was never supposed to be the next step. It didn't go Gundam > MK2 > Zeta > ZZ. Each of them has a fundamentally different design philosphy and the ZZ fits this. With Neo Zeon on the rise and the AEUG down to basically 1 ship they had to make a suit capable of soloing an army so they did just that. The ZZ's purpose is to be a single unit (or turn into fighters if need be) able to fight 2-3 ships + MS support solo. None of the other suits in the line were designed to do that.

Maybe other companies should get with the times. You still have model making companies that produce shit of worse quality than Chinese bootlegs. Like a single chinaman with a computer could make better molds than these guys, some of whom are western companies.

>>

>Maybe other companies should get with the times.

Modelling isn't about snap-fit articulated toys, kiddo. That's why Bandai exists.
>>
>>15599281
Classic ZZ didn't even use the original Gundam colors, it was this nasty green-ish off white.
>>
>>15599112
But anon, that's the FA ZZ, not the Fahtz.

>>15598750
Yeah, if I remember correctly, he's used it before to make someone think the ZZ was hiding behind an asteroid, before ramming into them with the Core Fighter to open their cockpit, and also pulled off an Open Get.

Still, though, that would be kinda cool, having Judau remote-control the three components.

>>15599373
... alright, when you put it like that, I can agree with ya. Kinda funny, if you look at it as "oh they just throw out the protag's gundam and they win", and that's literally all they could do, because the Double Zeta is built as a one-man army.
>>
>>15599847
