Alternately they can just throw in a timeskip, as another anon suggested, and avoided portraying the humans and their war machines. After all it had always been about the slice of life of Drossel, and the serious stuff is just for flavour. Frankly every episodes is already years apart from each other so they could basically not skip a beat.

But they probably won't do that yet until they had to.

Seeing this thread made me want to actually get off my ass and finish/rewatch Fireball and watch Charming.

The series relies on a lot of obscure and/or highbrow references and rapid-fire Japanese wordplay. Some stuff just doesn't translate well to English, which causes a lot of the jokes to fall flat. I know that's not what most people came for, though.

They have never met one, which meants they probably never killed one.
