A lot of dialogue in the Unicron Trilogy makes way more sense in Japanese than English.

Armada's QC was so sloppy that Jet Optimus's debut episode calls him Jet Convoy.

Energon had entire subplots deleted, like the implication that the real Scorponok is dead and the Scorponok we see is a random Transformer brainwashed into thinking he's him.

And then there's Cybertron, where the writers were completely tone-blind and half the lines from Galaxy Force were changed to "Why are we glowing?" "I dunno lol."

As the one who translated the majority of this series (sorry for the few typos), as well as edited all the dub audio to fit with the Japanese video sync, this thread pleases me. I was afraid this one would fall under the radar, but it turns out the Japanese version is 'far' better than its English counterpart in terms of script, story consistency, and to a lesser extent, depth.

Episodes 48, 51 and 52 in particular really drive home the existential debate the transformers have regarding their own war and the true meaning of justice. Much of this dialogue was altered or censored in the English version far more than I expected.

For some of the best examples, look at episode 8, second half of 13, 16, 39, 48, parts of 50, 51, and ALL of 52.

I like it when fembots aren't tryhard "I'm a grrll" with curvy body, boobs, and pink color and stuff (basically Arcee) but more subtle with only the head that has feminine trait. The only masterpiece figure I have so far is MP-26 Road Rage and I love her design (also because she's the cheapest MP I found since nobody wanted her)

Headmasters isn't very good to begin with but the fact that you can't get it with good subtitles makes it even worse - your choices are either TVN, Shout subs which shoehorn IDW shit into a show where they don't belong and even the "best" ones (the UK DVD) have a lot of issues, including technical ones.

Masterforce is easily the best of the three G1-based shows, but it still has some flaws like teasing plot points that are never picked up on or dumping crucial information into an OVA that isn't on the DVD releases, but it still works on it's own. Victory is boring and repetitive and if you've seen Brave Exkaiser, it's pretty much exactly the same, but probably a bit worse.

Haven't seen the Beast Wars ones so I can't comment on those, but I was kind of disappointed by Car Robots since they could obviously make a GOOD Brave show with GaoGaiGar but chose to dumb it back down to Exkaiser levels.

Haven't watched Micron Legend yet, and it's been years since I watched either Superlink or Galaxy Force, but I'm pretty sure I enjoyed both of those more than I did Car Robots.

They're just clip shows. The "super-secrets" is just Grand and Shuta discussing plot points that aren't addressed in the main series.

The clipshow OVA I really want to see is the Victory ones since those were actually directed by Masumi Kaneda. I've seen a clip from the last episode and it utilizes footage from MF so the Autobot Pretenders and the rest of the human characters from that show make an appearance. There's also a bit where Star Saber has a flashback to past Autobot leaders.
