Kyoryuger I'd give a watch. It gives a lot of focus to the red but it still develops the other characters and they're fun and charming and so are the villains. I had fun watching it.

Kyuranger is pissing people off inordinately because there's eleven rangers and seven of them never really get to do much. Xiao, Balance and Naga are the only ones who really survive how much the red takes the spotlight and must be the one to solve everyone elses problems, some of the other rangers have subplots and personality traits that show up for their debut or focus episodes and are immediately forgotten about. Others have never had much of a character to begin with. Everything's basically more and more just about Lucky as episodes go on.

Also it's Space Sentai but they've decided they're going to be on Earth most of the time... I don't have a lot of issue with that part but it's pissed a lot of people off.

There's a chance the show could turn around so if you watch the first few episodes and like it you'll be fine but most people just see the show as having a lot of the worst problems of the last five years of shows.

Seriously though, it's okay but I wouldn't say it's more than that as it stands right now. Obviously red is supposed to get some time but damn do they just keep harping on him solving stuff for everyone else instead of really helping the others grow as characters so he's basically the main guy fixing problems others could be solving, or he's the main guy giving others a lesson they could learn from someone else and it keeps others from really shining.

The only characters so far that feel like they care to develop are Naga, Balance, and Xiao, and we'll see what happens with the kid now, but as it stands now it's a complete mess. My problem is honestly them just throwing 11 characters into the mix and forgetting that they can just barely handle 6 at times and then throwing Takaharu 2.0 into the mix.

Weapon sounds are fantastic, mech changing sounds are fantastic, they're doing a spin on mech fights which is what I love, and the characters that are getting development are lovely, but they're treading a fine line right now.

I really have to wonder how the director feels about all of this. He went from Go-Busters to Zyuohger, and now this. You can tell he wants to do a wrestling Sentai, but with each underperforming show he gets assigned to, he can only sneak in wrestling references (especially since he barely gets to include any between all the YOSSHA LUCKY this time). I really hope he doesn't get fired, his quirks would really shine under the right writer.

Watch Go Busters instead. It was such a high quality Sentai that kids couldn't get into it and led to Toei deciding that kids just wanted stupider and stupider shows. Formerly Kyoryuger held the title of STUPIDEST GARBAGE SENTAI EVER, until Kyuranger stole it.

At its core the show had a good frame work but it had so many problems. Red and yellow felt miscast, the begining of the series was too dark though I liked the realism with the mecha running out of energy. Very little character development. Suits and tech was great.

How many eps is the current season in, and how is it?

Feel like watching some sentai so wanted some thoughts on the latest one.

12 episodes in, with 13 airing in a couple of hours.

Outside of two characters, it isn't very good at all. Lot of the usual problems with modern Sentai, only blown up to the nth degree due to it having a large cast and only one getting focus.
Suit acting is pretty decent, but the suit action is less than stellar, and just turns into beam spam. Mechs aren't anything great to look at, and they just got worse with the double combination.

The show could get better, but it's not looking like it will any time soon. If you want to watch Sentai, I highly recommend starting with anything else that is fully subbed and not called Ninninger.

As far as rating goes they were low by episode 7 and 8. It takes a while for the numbers to get to us, but they presumably have those as soon as the episode airs. Still seems to quick though, since they certainly have more than one month of production time for each episode.
