Could he save Gundam?
>What is your favorite Gundam and why?
>The first Gundam. It was created by the two masters, director Tomino and character designer and animator Yasuhiko. I do like the current Gundam Unicorn and I also like 0083, but I have 2 mentors and they are Tomino and Yasuhiko. The two of them taught me a lot while working on the original Gundam.

Itano would have hard time fighting against producers and other jewpanese moneymakers

Gundam isn't the one in need of saving m8.
It had a good enough run within in its first 20 years, now it just needs to retire.

Considering his resume as a director and working on screenplays I doubt it. He's a good animator, and probably good as animation director/supervisor given his experience, but he doesn't really seem to pull out anything special when placed in a more central position like director.

>Could he save Gundam?
From what, good ratings and good sales? Just get Tomino back to direct the next one.

>The two best animated series in the franchise
That's a yes then

Are you saying that they're the best animated or that they're the best series? This is an important distinction.

At least they are enjoyable on a surface level due to fun battles and quality visuals. A show like IBO would have been hugely improved if it didnt look like it had a budget of 500 yen despite being part of one of the most venerable franchises in existence.
