The ending is hilarious, he holds both of their hands and says "I love you" to both of them and says how he's happy to have been with them. But he never says you two, he says you like he's talking to only one despite taking to both. This is how hard they couldn't commit to making him pick.

This is such a hard harem ending that a year after he died they are at Pop's diner, now run by Jughead I believe, and the cast contently watches 3 kids resembling the love triangle share a single milkshake with three straws. It harem ends so hard that it established a new generation of harem.

Depends what you consider Archie prime. The digests kept going but those are more super market strips, often without dialogue. The main storyline "life with Archie" had been ongoing for like 40-50 years before the reboot. To my knowledge that was also the continuation of the main series and played off two different comics about what if Archie picked either Betty or Veronica.

No actually, his diner was a weird extra dimensional diner and was more surreal than futuristic to my knowledge. Jughead's Time Police, I can't fucking believe this was a thing, had some robots I think but sparingly since it was mostly him restoring/preserving history against an evil sorceress. Life with Archie, the end of the pre-reboot era, was pretty weird and out there. Archie's in general is about as varied as it can get now. The company has changed a lot since their "Boycott Josie and the Pussycats because it's PG-13!" rally.

Hell the current Sabrina book Hilda and Zelda forcefully removed her from her human mother, her father took away her mother's sanity, her aunts turned him into a tree, and they all worship Satan. Nah. They canned Mega Man to focus more on relaunching their general in-house properties like Josie and Sabrina. Even though Mega Man was selling really well for an Archie title. No one really knows why Sonic was cancelled though. It's a fucking mystery. Archie is a really small office though and I don't think they have the means to publish too many books at once.

Archie is still ironing that out themselves. They clearly want to target to teenagers but the teenagers watching Riverdale only care about Riverdale for the cute boy cast and won't jump to comics. They should target to kids but they can't seem to get anything off the ground so a cartoon is a no-go.

Also Archie comics are in this awkward retail space. Most book stores shelve kid comics like older Archie titles with kid books but wholesome Archie is mixed in with the indie comics despite Sonic and Mega Man having been mixed in with the kid comics. Meanwhile newer teen-targeted Archie is mixed in where it's target audience would never look because they're not typically reading comics. I've seen so many romance manga and comics in the YA section over the years it's funny that Archie hasn't pushed for a chance to move to those areas of the store.
