Besides size, what is the difference between a Shot Lancer and a Dainsleif?
Mechanically, they should be similar. But the Shot Lancer was a close-range weapon and it probably wasn't suitable for orbital bombardment.

A shot lancer actually refers to some sort of electromagnetic mechanism that drives the actual lance through armor. It's not necessarily referring to a gun or projectile, which means it might be a sort of rail-pilebunker. Railguns were apparently only used in the OYW by the federation and phased out I guess. Or maybe all conventional weapons in later UC are railguns because they're astoundingly powerful. Even the Jegan vulcans could blow apart a Geara Doga.

Oh and the shotlancer is referred to as a melee weapon.

>>15481634
>>15481641
Okay so
Shot Lancer = electromagnetically charges a physical projectile over a short to medium range
Dainsleif = electromagnetically charges a physical projectile over a long range
Functionally they're so similar, yet the Dainsleif is an illegal WMD and the Shot Lancer is a weapon designed to be used safely inside a colony. wat?
Also, why don't they just use fucking missiles? Isn't that what an explosive Dainsleif would be?
>>15481599
the Dainsleif uses the Ahab reactor to shoot the projectile
the ahar reactors are sort of wonder things that last forever and are only made by gjallarhorn and even they do not know much about it since it has been lost
no new gundam can be made either as that knowledge has been lost
the shot lance is a standard weapon againt ms with no magic thing liek the ahab reactor

The energies involved are different. You might as well be comparing a hand grenade to a nuke.
>b-b-but they both explode, it doesn't fucking make any sense
The shot lancer spins because it's a good trick.
The dainsleif is made from diamonds and plotarmorium alloy.
>>15481655
Dainsleifs are much faster and more massive.
kinetic energy is like mv^2 or something. So even a little speed up is significant.
>>15481599
Shot Lancer: Built for colony safety in mind.
Dainsleif: Built to wreck colonies.
Blue Cosmos would love the crap out of the Dainsleif.
Mirage Colloid Dainsleifs = goodbye PLANTs
>>15481932
For some reason, all railgun weapons in CE are crap.
>>15481938
But railgun weapons in CE does not require ammunition and can be spammed indefinitely.
>>15481932
I doubt they'd be too effective against colonies. Then again CE colonies are made of glass or something.
>>15481938
so CE has "weak railguns"?
>>15481655
because the shot lancer is designed to not make the minovsky reactors explode, which is what you get when you destroy MS with beam weaponry and has catastrophic results.
Meanwhile the dainsleifs are forbidden because gjallarhorn doesn't want to get nuked from orbit by untraceable weapons.
>>15482161
how much dainsleif salvos would it take to bury/penetrate Jaburo's defenses?
or mariemaia's bunker.
>>15482199
Many
The salvo that destroyed tekkadan managed to open a crater, but it was like only slightly deeper than the height of a MS
>>15482208
how deep was the mine they found the flauros and the hashmal in comparison to Jaburo?
>>15481932
Dainsleif aren't especially dangerous against colonies, beam weapons would do better.
>>15482222
Jaburo is said to be under "miles of rock". Zeon was apparently carpet bombing the general area of where Jaburo was nearly every day that they could, and still couldn't find an opening.
The Hashmal wasn't that deep.
>>15482148
They're fucking beams. Beams! The CE is completely retarded.
>>15484832
thanks!
basically the idea was to bury the feds with enough Dainsleif rounds since those doesn't fall under the antarctic treaty.

The first episode of Stargazer actually had most of the action focus on the Alliance's linear tank. The guy commanding the tank said that they'd have to get as close as possible and fire off a three round burst with their railcannon to penetrate the Ginn's armor. In the first episode of Seed, Mwu fires on a Ginn with his gunbarrels as well as the linear cannon, and the linear gun fails to go through the front chest armor.
Then there's railguns for mobile suits, those things seem to be a secondary weapon at best. GuAIZ R suits using their hip railguns were no match for high mobility Ginns armed with beam carbines in an episode of Destiny, although there was a skill difference in the pilots as well.
Freedom and Strike Freedom's railguns are poorly animated and they aren't really fit for use in any comparison, as they're occasionally firing continuous streams rather than bolts. Most of the time when they're used, he's attacking something with PS armor so I'm not really sure how well it works against conventional armor anyway.
