Orguss did well enough on its own to get some recognition apart from the other Super Dimension shows. Socross on the other hand is almost entirely known for being used in Robotech. Had it been the other way around, Orguss would have likely still done well enough on its own merits while Socross would have been confined to Srungle-tier obscurity.

My only big complaints about the show are the shitty Ishkick design, and the generally crappy fights. The other designs are pretty decent, including the Nikick.

Watched through all this for the first time myself not too long ago.

The setting and story felt very original, even by watching a lot of anime standards.

I felt like it dragged a little bit in the first half of the show, but that's about the worst I can say and it never became too much of a slog.

Olsen is a bro. Mome is best girl. After all the build up, the finale just felt epic.

Orguss 02 is pretty great as well. Excellent animation and while I'm not sure how I feel about its relation to the original series, I dig the setting for its world.
