Simple, VFs are stupidly easy to pilot but hard to master. They share the same fucking control scheme as destroids for fuck's sake.

Fucking Sheryl Nome managed to fly one mostly fine with nothing but theory lessons on flying, until she got shot down because she can't into combat maneuvers.

If you can get your hands on one, chances are you can fly it fine. Its whether you can survive in battle that is the part that separate actual pilots from random scrubs who got into the VF.
