To be honest, I never cared for the romance in this show. Ranka should have been the protag anyway, since she had the most interesting stuff going on for her (alien blood=her presence alone drives the story, starts a career in the idol industry, long-lost brother etc.). Alto was just an empty self-insert vessel.

I will never understand how people like Ranka so much. She had like 2 good songs and one was in a movie. She looks fucking weird with her saturated green hair and red eyes. She dresses and acts like a 10 year old. She is not really compelling or important in any way until like two thirds of the way into the show, and she lacks chemistry with Alto. He sees her like his annoying little sister, to the point where any attempt to have romance between them just seems forced. She also falls to pieces over fucking nothing like Minmay, whereas Sheryl held it together no matter how much bullshit she was suffering until the absolute low point of her life where she'd just been abandoned by everyone and was dying.
