Anyway, calling Chris a test pilot is probably a gross overstatement, her job is pretty much just to make sure the Alex can move and there's little indication she has any combat experience at all prior to the Kampfer fight. The only reason she even survives against Mikhail, a drunken asshole piloting an MS made out of cardboard, is because he rightfully assumes he one-shot her with the chain mines and lets his guard down.

Meanwhile, Bernie's piloting a late-model Zaku with a ton of upgrades and wartime innovation poured into it and manages to get the drop on her with a reasonably well-planned ambush. If the factions were reversed, this would be a bit like a GM Type C ganking a Gelgoog Jager that happens to be missing most of its arsenal under favorable conditions for the former: not exactly far-fetched. He's also mainlining a suicidal amount of DETERMINATION, which pretty much anyone will tell you counts for tons of bonus points in a story being told by Nips.
