***READ THE GUIDE***
For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions, as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here!
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, don't make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

**MELEE GROUP BUILD**
Build/paint a robot with a loadout focused on melee combat! Anything from shields to swords to lances to axes to bare fists is fair game. There's no room for ranged weaponry here, however, so anything resembling a rifle, Rocket Launcher, cannon, pistol, or any other ranged weapon is a no-go (Small ranged weapons that are built into the kit itself like head vulcans are ok, however).
More clarification here:
>If the body part has a built-in ranged weapon (head/chest vulcans, claw beams, etc), then that's fine. If it's a separate part like the Alex's arm vulcans it's best to leave those off.
>Melee weapons with in-universe ranged capabilities (Like the Kimaris's lance or the Gyan's shield) are fair game too.
>Any scale and any brand is fair game here, you're not limited to just using Gundams this time around.

Got some kits on my lunch break at work. Banshee unicorn destroy mode HGUC, build fighters gouf, and a gm custom MG. Also still working on my gp01 perfect grade. Can't get wait to go home and work on these guys.

>>15414484
I used netting as a mask to get my texture
First painting attempt, what do you think? I used the Gusion because I don't care about it too much and I thought that its colour would be a good way for sperimentation.
I used acrylics. First a very light silver base coat, then a more decise bronze layer and gold as the last in order to get a metallic colour more similar to the one in the anime.
Some dirty spots are there on purpose, I don't want it to look too clean so I left them instead of correct.
Would a light weathering on the edge give a more badass look?
Also the photo may not be the best, but using the flash would give a poorer representation because it would reflect the light and accentuate the spots painted less well

I actually didn't have any flash on the hands for these. I remember seeing yours a few weeks back and was fearing the worst. I got lucky I guess. I am using some new nippers so they cut off nicely.

Spiegel was my favorite when I was a kid watching G gundam, so when I started getting into Gunpla this year, it was the first Master Grade I did. Really wish I could go back and redo it, but i still like it. My only complaint is the hands have terrible flash and I fucked them up trying to remove it.
>>15418211
That sounds really good. Hopefully mine is relatively flash free when it gets here.
The only part I actually painted on the Spiegel was the V fin and all of the other yellow pieces since they aren't anywhere near the right color. I just used a gold Sharpie because I'm lazy.
Here it is with said gold paint and a shitty panel lining before I fixed it

Does anyone have experience with the Tamiya Weathering Master sets? I've recently acquired a couple of different sets and I don't want to start fucking up any models before figuring out how to use them properly.
I've never done weathering before, the most I've ever done is panel lining and a topcoat, so it's time to level up. Someone told me these were pretty easy to use and you can get decent results with them, but most weathering "tutorials" I've found just offhandedly mention that these are easy to use then go on to talk about completely different methods.
>>15418923
search youtube or buy a cheap kit
>>15418923
Read what the elements are on each of the tamiya sets and figure out where to apply the different weathering...things. For example you'd probably want to use soot near something's exhaust, sand and mud would go on the feet of something, etc. You should pay attention to those tutorials as they're probably covering techniques using paint over the actual weathering kits, but they'll still show you what kind of weathering goes where.

Does it matter if it's matte or gloss? I've heard somewhere that decals adhere better to a matte coat. Then you can just gloss over the whole thing after decals.
Hello anons, I have a problem with my Turn A MG.
I builded that thing months ago, then i had to travel oversees and stood there for a while, so sorry about the dust in advance.
The problem is within the arms, the attachment on the elbow joint is weird, it doesn't hold up, if I keep its arms raised they will stay in place, but as long as I try to lower them the just fall apart.
I tried everything months ago, But I just gave up, also because I had to go, but know I want to resolve this problem once and for all. Any ideas?
>>15420535
Other way around. You shouldn't put decals on a matte coat since the surface isn't smooth.
>>15420546
More rage.
If anybody needs more details, photos or whatever, just let me know, thank you.
Are the Gouf Custom and EZ-8 MG kits worth buying? Or should I just get the HG that came out a few years back?
>>15420553
Good to know. Thanks. I think I'm gonna weather the Jesta. I should top coat, weather top coat, right? Or is it okay to just panel line, decal, weather, and then top coat?
>>15420572
Depends on how you're doing the weathering. if you are using weathering kits you should flat coat first so that it actually sticks to the kit, but if you are using drybrushing you can do so before flat coating, makes it easier to remove any mistakes.
>>15420546
>>15420555
i'm sure you tried this already but did u try pushing the arms up more to get the PACHI/clicking sound?
if it doesn't work try sticky tak, pinning the joints
>>15420578
Probably going to use the weathering kits for the rust, black, silver colors. I'm considering marking the shield up with bullet holes and putting some scratches on the armor with a file. Then I'd fill them with black/silver as needed.
I guess you top coat after that right? To keep it all contained?
>>15420699
Welp. Guess I'm Australian now.
>>15420580
I tried more than once to push the arms upwards with all my strenght, it did a clicking sound, but not always, and it would never go more up than this. Here, another video were I show the joint directly.
It may seem that I apply some force to move the joint, but that's not true. I doesn't even have the flexibility to touch the shoulder with the hand, and that's weird because I saw it was able to do that in reviews videos.
Can anyone tell what airbrush I should buy painting gunpla

>>15422036
It's actually not that bad. It needs a lot of color/sticker apps to be accurate, but it's fairly good. It feels solid, a lot of the places that need color touch-ups are molded so as to ease painting, the clear blue pieces look nice, the Perfect Pack itself is articulate enough for what it is, and it gives you a buttload of stickers to help be more accurate. The biggest complaints about the G-Reco kits come from their over-reliance on stickers and the sub-par articulation, especially when compared to their contemporary HGUC counterparts that were kits being released as part of the All Gundam Project or the Revive sublines. If you're up to painting the details and don't mind the ~90 degree arm/leg bends, they're fairly nice
Meanwhile no one complains about the ~100 degree arm/leg bends on many IBO kits. Although fair enough the inner frame gimmick helps balance things out, and people gave both Rebakes shit for being unrepentant sticker-fests.

>>15420735
you may have the ballshaped part of the joint swapped. try swapping upper arm joint sides, that wasn't a problem for me once i heard the audible click of it securing into place, even hamhanding occasionally doesn't fug those elbows up.

Are all RGs are bad as this thing?
I fell for how amazing just OOB RGs look but holy shit. The shoulder armor plates on the RX-78 are held on by nothing but hope, the armor on the back of the arms are held on by just BARELY more than literally fucking nothing, and don't even get me started on trying to keep together that fucking microscopic red bit that fits in front of the yellow on the groin to make the dick chevron while trying to slide it into place on the front pelvis armor.
And these just a few issues on the laundry list of problems this fucking hand grenade has.
>>15426584
No, it's just that the RX-78-2 is the first in the line and shit happens to the first in the line. Should've gotten the 3.0 instead.
The only other RGs that could rival the RX-78-2 in quality are the Sinanju and the Zeta.
>>15426589
So picking up the GP02 and Mk II as well wasn't a huge mistake, then?
>>15426592
MK2 is one of, if not the, most solid RGs in the line,
I've heard the GP01 isn't bad either, but the Core Fighter gimmick can be a real pain.
>>15426592
>GP02
Tell me what lalaland you come from where there is a RG GP02.
Gonna assume you mean the GP01. The Mark II is a solid RG, probably one of the best ones in the line. The GP01 is a bit fiddlier because of the core fighter gimmick. The upper half tends to fall off easily. But they're both leagues above the RX-78-2.
>>15426592
>GP02
You mean GP01FB?
The top portion of the torso sits super loosely on top of the corefighter waist and falls off super easily, but topcoating it or standard joint tightening techniques on the pegs fixes this issue thanks to the added friction.
The mkII is all around solid.
>>15425625

If they do that they should AT LEAST give it the armor components to become the GN-000FA.
How much of a handgrenade is the RG chars zaku? I bought it several years ago as one of my earlier kits. I saw the springs for the pipes and instantly put the kit in the deepest of my shelves.
>>15427021
Simply put, unless you're buying a MK-II, don't expect any sort of stability out of a an RG kit.
>>15427025
I've built several RG:s and I know how they are. I'm just afraid of the pipes more or less exploding on this kit specifically, leaving me looking for pipe parts for days.
>>15427031
I didn't have any problems with the pipes on mine, even pulling on them when they're fully assembled they hold up pretty well.
>>15427019
Nope, MG 0 Gundam will have not one but TWO p-bandai expansion sets.
One for the GN particle wings,
one for the FA parts.
Fuck you Bandai.
We're lucky the 00 Raiser HG, PG and MG at least came out well before Bandai started p-Bandai-ing every little add-on.
P-Bandai was already a thing, just not as prevalent as it is now.
I suppose all the Raiser Sword effect parts were included in RG 00 Raiser only because they were included in the HG, PG, and MG, so Bandai couldn't bullshit not including them in the RG.
If 00 aired today, perhaps the whole 0 Raiser would be a separate p-Bandai pack.
