Is part of your personal criteria for liking a mecha design require it to have a big gun/rifle or it has heavy weaponry of some sort?

No, my personal criteria for liking a mecha design require it to not look like a disgusting clusterfuck, such as the one you just posted.

My mecha need to have something cool! Or amazing! Or amazingly cool!
I do love me some mecha that can take a good hit.

It's not necessary, but it helps. Though in general, the primary concern is that all its parts work together as a cohesive whole. Like, if you have some spindly speedster mecha, giving it a giant bazooka is going to look silly.
If it has a small gun it can't be a bulky mech otherwise it looks funny, that's my only concern

I golden rule is that the mecha has to have some type of transformation(Trans-Am,Flight Modes, etc)
It's gotta be symmetrical, that's all that matters.

Usually the opposite for me. Lke I fucking love the Unicorn Gundam but I can't stand it in Full Armor.
But then I also fucking love the Thunderbolt Full Armor Gundam so I guess it's just how it looks with all that bulky shit.

For you

my personal criteria for liking a mecha design requires it to be zeonic in nature or spirit. broadly-speaking i prefer suits that are part of a team, like grunts. super special awesome hero units like gundams never appealed to me. even char's hero suit is just a grunt suit painted red
A big gun/heavy weapon is always a plus (provided its iconic and suits the design) but there are many other facets to a mecha that suits my taste such as it looks like it could do its assigned role. Besides this, I like the design to look like it can do what it can do without flubs like bending metal (unless the metal parts are designed for that, such as transformers or orbital frames)
Besides the above, enough kibble to look sufficiently 'mecha' but not enough to look like the OPs picture that has little aesthetic value, nor logic (no armor, extremely large sillhouette, parts that would obviously clash against each other in motion, etc)

I used to fancy big guns and heavy weapon loadouts, but nowadays I just appreciate good aesthetic.
