It's a sign that G-Reco wasn't as popular as other shows, and this is the case for a number of reasons. The late-night time slot was a minor handicap, but many people found the show difficult to understand as well. On a personal note, I wasn't a fan of how the show was created to convey a particular political message and, to a lesser extent, to give Tomino's friends some work. The show was, at the very least, not well planned out.

Also lack of porn does correlate to a lack of popularity, although most of it is a shallow sort of popularity. Take, case in point, Fumina in GBFT. Porn everywhere long before the show came out, but once the show actually got rolling, the porn falls off harder and harder. She had a character design that brought in waves of popularity, but the show was shit and she had little substance as a character in the show, so interest waned.

G-Reco's unpopularity in terms of porn means that it failed to drum up any major interest before and during the show's airing. It did not have a particularly defining character design that oozes sex appeal. Its female characters were neither interesting nor compelling.

This is why there's a Capital Guard and a Capital Army, it's an analogy of how Abe can interpret their constitution to make Japan's -Self Defense- Force into more than just -Self Defense-
