Is there anyone that could help me identify a really old mecha anime.
I't for a friend of mine so I am afraid I have very limited information.
He saw it somewhere in the late 80s. The animation style looked alot like the original gundam series. It was a movie and the pilot of the mecha had the ability to dive in to solid matter and then make it explode.
It's not much I know I will try to get more info from him.

I don't know what mecha anime they ran in the Netherlands, but here's a chart. Hopefully it can help.

Thanks you I will see if I can find something with that

It's also helpful to know like which station it ran on. You can try finding that kind of information online.

It was a movie he rented

That makes more complicated then.
Wouldn't it be funny if it was some shitty Korean ripoff again? The last thread of this nature went in circles for like a hundred posts until someone identified it as Taekwon V.

Is it Space Warrior Baldios? The main super robot looks like the Gundam face-wise, one of Baldios' attacks is teleporting directly inside the enemy and inflicting massive damage, and a movie compiled from the series was released in 1981 I think.
