Even if it takes multiple centuries to terraform in the first place, keeping up with the issues from a lack of magnetosphere is comparatively trivial. I had assumed that the ending where Gjallarhorn leaves Mars and the attitude of most of Tekkadan that preserving the peace that their comrades died for is far more important than obsessing over revenge for past deaths was IBO's take on the attitudes Korea and China take toward World War 2, but it makes more sense as Okada's interpretation of Japan-US relations after the occupation, that the events of the past are to be seen as stepping stones for the future, even if you feel that the other side used totally illegal and horrible weapons to win and you're still kind of assblasted over that.
