In late 2006, Leiji Matsumoto accused J-Pop singer Noriyuki Makihara

In late 2006, Leiji Matsumoto accused J-Pop singer Noriyuki Makihara of plagiarizing lyrics from the Galaxy Express 999 manga, and announced that he would like to hear an apology from Makihara. In 2007, Makihara Noriyuki filed a 22 million yen lawsuit against Leiji Matsumoto for "repeated demands for an apology and false accusation." The Tokyo District Court ordered Leiji Matsumoto to pay 2.2 million yen in compensation for defaming Noriyuki Makihara.

Justice served I guess.

Bad art aside, how can anyone actually like Matsumoto? He's an asshole.

>He actually thinks Nishzaki contributed anything worthwhile to Yamato

Dude was a business man, not a creator. Why are so hung up about this when you've been provided countless sourcing from multiple people citing the man you hate so much as being very important to Yamato? You never respond to any of the citations you're given and you just continue to shitpost like a baby. You are quite literally the only person to deny all the work he did for the series.

I don't even know why I respond to your ramblings, it must be some autism on my behalf at seeing such intensive autism on your behalf. But I have honestly tried to explain things to you in simple ways for you to understand.

I've recently introduced a friend to Leiji's works and she's been loving them. Especially Galaxy Express. Will probably do Queen Emeraldas next.
>>
>>15355235
If anything, I'd think that Ishiguro contributed to Yamato being what it is a lot more than Nishizaki. Ishiguro is the unsung hero of mecha anime in the 80s.
Nishizaki was useless, the one Yamato version where he was actually involved was Resurrection, by far the worst of Yamato we ever got and an insult to the franchise. And if he got away with what he wanted in the 70s to begin with Yamato would've been crap. Thank God both Matsumoto and Ishiguro, among a few others, made it one of the best anime in history.
>>
>>15355235
That's irrelevant.

Matsumoto was hired not as the co-creator, but as the art director. The fact that he re-did everything about Yamato is completely irrelevant.

Nishizaki owned the rights. He started the whole process. So when the man wanted to make a sequel to Yamato, Matsumoto should have kept his mouth shut and let him do what he wants. It's his property. But no, Matsumoto sued Nishizaki over it. Whether Resurrection was bad or not is completely irrelevant.

Lazy Matsumoto has proven twice in court, and in his interviews that he's a grade A asshole, who wants to take credit for near everything and is incapable of acknowledging other people's work. I hope he dies soon so we don't have to deal with his disgusting behaviour ever again.
>>
>>15355306
Precisely. Both Leiji and Nishizaki are shit.
>>
>>15355306
Not just that, Nishizaki was a moody, unstable, asshole. Hell, there is a YAS and Izubuchi interview in outblazers where YAS comment the follow:

>Yas: That was Nishizaki’s style. When a meeting came up, various staff members like Mr. Yamamoto and I were called in. When the meetings got deadlocked, many staff members other than Eiichi, including me, were called up. Then he would tell me, “You look like you have a complaint. Tell me what you want to say, in written form.” I did as he asked, and in the next meeting, he would say, “This is my idea–,” but actually it was MY idea. (Laughs) Various other people probably went through the same thing.

Not to mention various other episodes where he treated his co worker like a idiot, or he's various incidents during the 90's, like bringing drugs from the Philippines and the possession of illegal guns, such as a M16 with a granade launcher and and great amounts of ammo. Those threads generally paint Nishizaki in a fictitious"poor tricked original creator" light to try hit Matsumoto. But this is seriously more credit than Nishizaki deserves.

Also, all his solo-Yamato projects were huge piles of shit. Not even Lazyfags can deny this. He doesn't even care, he just wanted Yamato to insert his bullshit shared universe.

Says who? Most of them were cut short due to legal problems before they got anywhere. The only animated project of Yamato in recent years with his name attached was the pachinko game that had its animated footage released as an OVA. Probably no worse than with Nishizaki did.

The fact that you want an old man to die because you're mad that he reworked Yamato into something watchable speaks volumes. You are more than likely mentally ill.

He did a manga. That's what he does. He's a manga "artist", you know. And the said manga is a piece of shit and everyone who bothered writing a review for it agrees:

In other words, irrelevant.

Are you being deliberately stupid? Gundam is a Sunrise team effort, and not a one man job. Either way, your point is completely irrelevant.

If I hire you to do your part, at the end of the day, the IP is mine. When you work on a project in your company, that project is not yours, unless you have some sort of special arrangement with the actual owners. Nishizaki shouldn't even have lost the character rights to Yamato. He should made it clear that Matsumoto is working for him, and not the other way round.

And here's another fact. Matsumoto sued Nishizaki over a product he owned. This is the disgusting part.

>>15357195
Again, not irrelevant. Yamato would not exist as we know it if not for Leiji. Nishizaki has essentially nothing to do with the end part. You can't call it his creation.

Even courts agreed with Leiji for years and that's why he had excess to his parts of the creation (IE the ship designs and the characters) which is why we got to see them in the Galaxy Express 999 manga.

Nishizaki gave Leiji COMPLETE control over the creative process of the series. Nishizaki did not create those things, Leiji did. Fuck, he had so much control over everything he even planned to put Harlock in it and we had fucking Yamato merchandise with Harlock pictured in them.

>And here's another fact. Matsumoto sued Nishizaki over a product he owned. This is the disgusting part.

Nothing wrong with that considering you have no problem with Nishizaki taking credit for other people's work.

I really don't get why he's having such a hard time understanding this. He literally supervised everything along with all the other jobs he did for the series. He was a workaholic. It had exactly the same length as the old Yamato manga by Lazy, which also ended abruptly. This third volume would need to be a total game changer to justify such a boring, uninteresting piece of garbage these first 2 volumes were building up. It doesn't help japanese fans also hated Eternal Fantasy and that ended abruptly as well. The same goes for Harlock Saga. Noticing a pattern here? Yeah, he always has an excuse, how much of his stuff got stalled due to mysterious circumstances? A lot of them. But it's always someone else who should take the blame, of course.

>the issue of Space Battleship Yamato copyright was finally settled in May 2004. Leiji Matsumoto was awarded visual rights, Yoshinobu Nishizaki was awarded rights to the original story, and Tohokushinsa Film Corp. maintained its position as the master rights holder of Yamato products (making them a de facto participant in any new project).

See: Harlock section. Retains visual rights over his designs but not his story.

Earliest Leiji Matsumoto interview regarding Yamato
http://ourstarblazers.com/vault/303/

>Matsumoto: To be precise, Nishizaki lead the planning and the first draft, but when it comes to who participated in the story, that’s a bit vague. It was made by committee, perhaps? What I can say is, I remember I created most of the basic stories and ideas for episodes, including settings and details of battle scenes. I didn’t give out my ideas grudgingly, because it was a group-work.

Dear /m/- the OP poster who is riding his personal campaign against Leiji Matsumoto (yet again) has a mental problem that he desperately wants to share. His taste is in his tongue only, and he will shamelessly spit whatever venom he can about anything LM-related he feels like. You want to see lack-of- talent, genuine ass-holery, and bias, OP?..Look in the mirror.
>>
>>15358687
This. I've found that one of the only ways to get over one's envy of another person's work is to create something that you can take pride in yourself. Time to hit the drawing board, OP.

I know you can do it.
>>
>>15358687
I'm just assuming the Lazyrager is either hardcore projecting, or still hasn't grasped that the 'Lazy Matsumoto' pun stopped being funny roughly 5 minutes after it was first introduced.
>>
>>15358734
I can understand that. I too would like to be rich and famous while barely making any real effort or lacking talent to do so. Who wouldn't want to have it as easy as Lazy?
>>
>>15353410
This is really inspiring. Now I feel that I'm ready to make my own comics.
>>
>>15357854
Someone has to paint all those betas
>>
Leiji isn't a really good artist, but I always had him as an episodic plot creator over anything. I can't think of any western show with as many great ideas as galaxy Express 999
>>
>>15358877
The Twilight Zone?

No shit it's not drawn by him, lad.

There are multiple people talking about him in those links, what are you on about? The story treatments literally have his name written on the covers. I'm more inclined to trust the Yamato experts as Star Blazers than random shitposter #99992929

>>15358687
I've figured that for a while now. Especially since he wants him dead.

>>15358414
Click the original source. Not saying you're wrong or anything, though. It's still pretty interesting to see where the idea might have came from and if Nishizaki wanted to adapt that Yamato thing but was too cheap to get the license to it. Although it probably wouldn't be a stretch to say that the Yamato is just an iconic piece of history so multiple people wanted to write stories about it.
>>
>>15358886
Original Star Trek might also work.
>>
>>15358890
Yamato is the name of ancient Japan. Judging by the japanese flags in that rocket, it's more likely a coincidence, unrelated to the battleship Yamato
>>
>>15358687
The irony is that even if Matsumoto was as much a hack as Lazyrager keeps insisting, he's STILL accomplished more than Lazyrager ever had in his entire pathetic excuse for an existence.
>>
>>15350528
>>15350539

So, from what I can tell, this is hourglass or pear-shaped women vs supermodels.
>>
>>15358921
OP is probably still young, he has his entire life to live. It's not like you or anyone here is much different. But at least he might have the sense to not become a huge self-deluded asshole as big as Lazy.
>>
>>15358962
>implying you're not Kazyrager

And this is the oerfect example if why we need thread poster IDs.
>>
>>15358985
Agreed. Then you would realize what dumbasses you are for thinking it's just OP who can see what an insufferable hack Lazy is.

Queen Emeraldas was a huge letdown. I know I'm not buying that second volume. What a rip off.

Leiji was an assistant to Tezuka during the 50s while still a student. Tezuka had him do many of the battle scenes.

How is it relevant to what I posted about him being an assistant to Tezuka as a high school student?

Are you just downloading random manga from an author you dislike to prove a point no one agrees with you on? Really makes u think

Why does everyone in his art look like deformed midgets and manlets? And his panelling is just awful even if the manga he makes may be decent enough.

Mentally ill man that has a grudge against an ironic manga artist. Makes these exact same threads and posts the same images as soon as the previous one dies. He's been at it for almost a year now.
