It's funny that Boss Borot itself, while being total shit, is actually still not horrible. It's extraordinarily strong (in one of the Mazinger Z manga it lifted Mazinger and Sayaka out of an artificial sinkhole that was constantly pulling them down) and that head is nearly unbreakable all things considered. And Boss himself is no slouch either - he built a semi-functional Scrander once, and a Spazer, and a few other neat weapons, and on foot when he wasn't being total comic relief he was surprisingly competent.

Boss Borot's totally the kind of guy you want to see win because they never do normally, so it feels really good in Shin Mazinger when he pulls out that big win at the end.
It's kind of like Musashi from Getter Robo, where the comic relief are losers compared to the main hero, but that just makes you want to see something good happen.

No it's not bad. Despite how his robot looks and his role, he's had a hand in saving the day a lot of times. Not to mention how multiple versions of Mazinger make Boss cool in their own ways

Is Borot's leitmotif in the Mazinger Z soundtracks? I can't seem to find it anywhere and it's a serious earworm.

Boss is the kind of guy every /m/an should strive to be. His friend/rival inherits an invincible super robot, and he response is "Pfft, big whoop, I'll make my own super robot", and then he actually does.

Personally, i find the latter to be a more satisfying pronounciation. MAzinger sounds like the word "magazine" (as in like, a gun magazine), it sounds like a weapon.
