The FAG is technically the superior MS overall (Luna Titanium armor, Beam weaponry, etc) but the Zaku P type had unparalleled levels of fine control and response time due to the Reuse P device.

Also, Io is actually a pretty good pilot. He kicks ass in a standard GM Kai later on while the special forces in their suped up gundam heads are barely holding their own.

He had most of the most advanced Gundam designs ever for UC, and he still lost to an upgraded Zaku II that Zeon Remnants had in surplus that didn't even have beam weapons.

Daryl's plot armor and the Psyco system aside, that's pretty pathetic considering a single fucking ranged hit from the FAG should have demolished the Psyco Zaku since it's not beam-shielded and still using titanium armor at best from late 0079's canon, and most likely just steel like a normal Zaku..
