People talk about how TTGL has an annoying fanbase, but the show itself is actually good.
I agree on the annoying fanbase part, but TTGL wasn't "good". Sure, the first half was a decent and frankly inoffensive comedy, but the second half was a terrible bore to watch, and it brought the overall series down.
It was just the Gurren squad coming up with random shit upon random shit leaving the viewers with no emotional connection to any of the characters at all. The fights weren't good enough either to make up for the lack of soul this show needed. Every speech, every piece of dialogue felt flat and not engaging at all.
I'm not one to hate stuff just because they're popular, because I actually think that even your average shounen shit like Naruto is a lot more hard hitting and most definitely better written than TTGL. Surprising, I know.
