While it did do it's job very well, arguably it was kind of helpless if you managed to get a bunch of guys weighing him down and preventing him from shooting or activating his field, like Sergei's team once did.

Yeah it could purge the armor to become Nadleeh and toss them all off, but then you've got no more field and armor and are arguably now the worst of the 4.

But that did only happen once.

Seravee was pretty cool too. It had more guns, much-needed melee upgrades, various energy outputs, and the Seraphim was easily more accessible for combat than Nadleeh. Seravee really was as good of a successor Gundam to Virtue as one can expect.

The Virtue/Nadleeh was just one Gundam with two different forms, but Seravee/Seraphim was two Gundams in one form. I don't really get the Raphael much myself due to the little utility that comes from the main body over Seravee II, but I still think that Seravee was cool because it was an upgraded Virtue but with Nadleeh as a side partner.

The problem is the back face just looks dumb. And it's not like it's seraphim's actual face they just coundn't hide because the face completely unfolds into Seraphim which has it's own entirely seperate head.

They just decided to have Seraphim have it's own giant head mode, purely to hang out on Seravee's back, and even by robot standards that's really pushing it.

Mobile suits were built with shooting in mind from the start. Orginally it was just Zaku's shooting at battleships and fighters, with melee being an option that was rarely used and even then it was just a chop or a punch and that was it because fighters and battleships can't hit back. The original's Gundam's defining feature was it had a battleship class beam ability in it's rifle.

It wasn't until mobile suit on mobile suit combat that melee combat was a thing.
