The producers gave them some abysmally small amount of money to buy three vehicles and make a combining robot out of them. Hammond shows up in the Braincom, obviously. Clarkson then arrives in the Mainbody, because it's got the most weapons and is therefore the most powerful. Much later May arrives in the Legtrax. They argue for a long time about which is better, and decide to settle it with a series of challenges that they all fail miserably at.

When Makara attacks and the time comes to form Dai-X they get into a prolonged argument about who should be what piece. Clarkson insists on being the head, while Hammond and May try to argue that Mainbody must form the main body or it won't work. The argument goes on for so long that James is shot down while not paying attention, so Hammond relents out of desperation. After forming a legless, upside-down Dai-X, they are quickly destroyed by Makara and then cut back to the studio to explain how it was all James' fault, really.

YouTube's a bit iffy, they've got some good highlights but also with a lot cut out if it's the BBC uploading them, while if it's third party often there's mirroring or letter boxing to avoid copyright, I'd look for a good download somewhere.
