The "protecting humanity" thing goes as far as wiping out the Amazons since coexistence doesn't seem like a viable option to him and that falls in line with everything else he said and did.

He's nutty but he's not just killing for the lulz and it isn't "false platitudes", more like extremely harsh/skewed platitudes (this is supposed to be one of those edgy "there are no heroes" type stories after all) and they fucking beat the viewer over the head with this with no subtlety right to the end.

This. Jin's main flaw of insanity is that he absolutely has to get rid of the Amazons fast, since he knows exactly what evil corporations would do with that kind of power in their possession. Iyu is the girl's name. Interesting if his name is commonly a girl's name though, since Season 2 theme is "boys and girls".

Gets me thinking. Iyu does seem rather disinterested in Chihiro's presence. That behavior is very unlike Haruka's half sister from the previous season, who'd search high and low for him and demanded constant contact with him. On top of that, Iyu's Amazon form is very masculine. I know part of that is due to her suit actor obvious being a guy, but that usually doesn't deter Toei's designers from giving female monsters feminine features. Even the Ant Queen from last season got sum tiddy. So far this "relationship" seems very one sided from the trailer. Even in the OP image, despite Chihiro having her in a concerned embrace, Iyu is like "Kamen Rider? Eh."

It seems the writing staff of Amazons is gonna be messing around a lot with masculine and feminine character archetypes for this thematic venture of theirs.

I betcha that this is gonna end with Chihiro's growing more and more attached to this weirdo goth while she continues to just have a blank thousand yard stare in search of something other than a relationship.
