What happened to /m/? Ever since 2013 we've been in a massive slump as a community, it's almost as if 2016 used us as a testing ground.
>>
Rampant shitposting because we don't have active mods, for one thing.

Mostly the shit posting....mostly.

Also the fact that the nips thing mecha is only for old people or some shit.
>>
It's like this every year, actually.

Actually, all things considered do you not notice how there are comparatively fewer meta threads these days vs a few years ago?

Used to be like one meta thread per page on average.

These "Why is /m/ bad now?" threads pop up at least once a month. it comes down to few things:

There haven't been a whole lot of new mecha-related content. Notable releases have been sparse in recent years -- most of those were just mediocre. Without any worthwhile thing to talk about, we see the same threads get posted week after week and it just gets repetitive.

Reddit became more mainstream and more conducive for at least something resembling a discussion. Some people left /m/ to find a more agreeable subreddit or start their own. They only come to /m/ to shitpost or they got banned.

Also, the mods and jannies of /m/ are shit at keeping things clean (and I'm pretty sure they've contributed to some of shitposting). I remember one thread where somebody was just posting gay porn -- It lasted for hours before I presume somebody got around to removing it. Posts that are blatantly against Global Rules are permitted either because it was probably a mod/janny or they just don't give a fuck.
>>
>>15290454

There's been more than enough good /m/ content released these past years, it's just more fun to shitpost than "discuss" them.
>>
>>15290454
>There haven't been a whole lot of new mecha-related content. Notable releases have been sparse in recent years -- most of those were just mediocre. Without any worthwhile thing to talk about, we see the same threads get posted week after week and it just gets repetitive.

Objectively false.
>>
>>15290466
Not really, no. Most of it is average or just completely flew under the radar that nobody mentioned it.
>>
It was the curse of Valvrave
>>
>>15290454
Actually 4chan became mainstream and as a result has become heavily infested, even in the niche boards. What you're seeing is a lack of self-policing from "oldfags" and relying too much on mods and janitors to do their job. Another major part is since sage isn't visible anymore it's hard for newfags to tell if the shit thread with 100 replies is being sage bombed or not because it's on page 2.

Then you have the fact people are moving offsite to supposed greener pastures is another issue. Not to mention stuff like IRL, people getting older, etc.
>>
>>15290533
Also some reoccuring threads not only here but on other boards show signs of infestation, take the MSGO thread. It's mostly redditors and two attentionfags at this point keeping Something Awful's clan afloat.
>>
I even see people shit posting in Patlabor threads these days.
>>
>>15290319
I wanna say there were better days maybe between late 2008 and roughly 2012?

But there was a whole lot of crap in there too. I don't miss some of it.

I think the past couple months have been okay enough, I think it's a slight improvement over 2015 and 16. Mostly.
>>
>>15289088
Newer generation + baneposting + gamer gate = /pol/ = shitposting becomes the norm and leaks out to all other boards

>>15290631
I saw someone attempt to shitpost Daiguard. These are dark times.
>>
>>15289088
/m/ went to shit circa 2007

You're an idiot and need to go.

This is partially true.

Don't act like this hasn't happened in the past. If your series didn't get shitposted before, it just means that barely anyone cared about it.
>>
>>15291436
> Don't act like this hasn't happened in the past. If your series didn't get shitposted before, it just means that barely anyone cared about it.

But it is a symptom of one of the biggest problem with /m/ right now: /m/ is the board you to go hate mecha. We hate everything in our genre. We only discuss mecha these days so we have something to shitpost about.

Spending all of our time constantly attacking each other is just dragging the quality of the board further and further down. I'm not saying we need to be a hugbox, but this board is downright toxic.
>>
>>15291583
>but this board is downright toxic.
it's called having an opinion.

If you don't like it when people express their opinions, you're free to leave.

If your "opinion" is indistinguishable from shitposting, we are better off without it.

Calling something your opinion doesn't excuse bad behavior. Don't be a child.
>>
>>15291622
>Calling something your opinion doesn't excuse bad behavior.
Point an example of someone having a bad behavior.
>>
>>15291622
All your pic contains is a bunch of threads where people are saying they hate x.

That's all. No one called your mother a whore, no one made fun of you.

They're allowed to hate whatever they want. Why do you care if they hate your favourite show? Are you that insecure?
>>
Do not respond.

Do not engage.

This will soon be another 100+ post thread of "triggered opinion tumblrina opinion safespace opinion". Do not interact with these faggots, post something good in another thread.
>>

Protip
If your thread starts with a meme OP
it's shitposting
>>
>>15291679

Thanks. I'm glad I didn't have to say it.
>>
>>15291650
What if I told you that I haven't watched anything of them, and neither did the person who posted the threads? If they truly had, and actually wanted to talk about the weakpoints of those shows, he wouldn't be posting outright vitriol or telling people their opinions are wrong and they must bow at their feet.

Oh, and the same person posted all of them. You can tell because the OPs are all stale copypasta.
>>
>>15291436
Really?
When was the last time we had a TTGL? A 00? A Code Geass, or even a GBF?

From what I've seen, /m/ gets slower with each passing day. Which is the only reason why the shitpostets are so visible.

I only come here nowadays to check out the Gunpla genera, but they already have that in /toy/ as well.
>>
>>15291697
>If they truly had, and actually wanted to talk about the weakpoints of those shows
You're delusional. When people hate things, they just say it. Most of the time they never bother saying why they hate it because that opens them up for attacks. It's an opinion and you should learn to deal with it.

>telling people their opinions are wrong
You're the one saying that. You're saying that they're not allowed to have a negative opinion about a show and that their opinion is wrong.
>>
>>15291622
I thought people here were smart enough to realize that OPs don't make a thread what it is.
>>
>>15291738
I never said that. People are allowed to hate LoGH.

What they are NOT allowed to do is march into /m/, make a thread stating "HOLY SHIT THIS WAS SO AWFUL SASUGA JAPS YOU CAN'T WAR AT ALL" and then say that anyone that disagrees is completely wrong and must admit that the show is bad and that they have bad taste for liking bad shows, and anyone who has a problem with that is a triggered shitter.
Literally /v/ behavior. That is not the level of discourse we are supposed to have here.
>>
>>15291738

There is a difference between expressing a negative opinion and making a low effort bait post can exists for no purpose but to invite pointless arguments.

You can't even use these for any kind of legitimate discussion, because there isn't any substance to their posts to support, address or refute.

Its poor form, and shit posting. The board would objectively be better off without it.

If you want to make a thread that focuses dressing down a show, put some effort into it. Talk about what it was that you thought was bad. Start an actual discussion instead of lazy memery.

If you don't want to actually talk about the show, why are you bothering to make the thread at all?

Oh yeah, that's right, low tier easy trolling.
>>
>>15291738
>they never bother saying why they hate it because that opens them up for attacks
It's better to explain your reasoning like a functional human, as this facilitates discussion. If being "attacked" aka people posting what they think is such a big deal, then the internet is not the place for them.
>>
>>15291799
This is still ignoring the very fucking real problem of drive-by shitposting and argument-baiting. Walk onto any other board, or a confession thread on one of the shitty meta boards like /r9k/ or /s4s/ (everyone in that board should be unironically killed) and you will see people straight the fuck up admit that they go to boards they don't use that have light moderation just to go shitpost or start fights just because it's fun to them. /m/ gets hit with these people fucking constantly. /k/ gets two threads a minute from them because "hurr durr easiest board 2 trol".
>>
>>15291783
>>15291799
>>15291810
You entirely miss the point. If people weren't allowed to express their opinions in the way they felt appropriate, then you're essentially trying to kill free speech. Free speech is free speech, both good and bad. If you don't like it, stop coming here, or filter threads you don't like.

4chan offers every tool at your disposal to have your own private safe space.
>>
>>15291824

...What argument do you think you are having? Because I feel like you are talking to someone else entirely.
>>
I blame G-Reco
>>
>>15291860
Ignore threads you don't like, it's that simple.
>>
>>15291650

Nobody cares what you hate. Fuck even with Seed Destiny people go into detail about how ti improve it or what actually went wrong. This is just some ass trying to stir the pot.

>>
>>15291824
>Free speech is free speech, both good and bad.
>If you don't like it, stop coming here

People simply stopped coming here is precisely what happened.
>>
>>15291799
I agree with this.

There's a large degree of separation between shitposting and discussion.
