What's the most mechanically complex mecha transformation scene? Seeing pic related got me curious as to whether this style was used elsewhere.

Anon there is a huge difference between "mechanically complex" and "literally mechanically impossible", and GL transformations are the second by nature.

I don't have a gif or webm but this is the Imaishi cut from PW #8, I don't recall any other transformation in the series being like this.

Probably Devastator from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

> go to the effort of having a big fusion Decepticon
> only Autobots that interact with it are the fucking twins
> gets destroyed by Bay's military hardon
fuck these movies.
Not really that complex, but at least its possible to do with a toy without swapping out parts.

Why Macross 0 still has the best usage of 3DCGI in mecha animes ?
Off the top of my head

It's not. It looks like FROM's CG from the 90s.
V2 Gundam. You should see the MG.

Did GL ever have a mechanical transformations at all? All I remember is the new robot always just being magiced into existance.
It depends on what you're looking for, really.
The S-Gundam and Ex-S Gundam have some weird ass transformations, at least from what I've seen.
I personally dig the waste of taxpayer money that is the Earth Engine/Captain Earth combination sequence as well.

Gaogaigar. FINAL FUSION.
Maybe Unicron?
Gunbuster

Whoever wrote that dialogue needs to be shot.

My favorite version of the Variable Formation.
The "PSHEW" noises it makes whenever things snap into place really gets me going.
