The way I thought to scale it was that anything within the Earth Sphere or about up to maybe Mars, perhaps some of Jupiter even would be the Inner Sphere equivalent, and anyone coming from Jupiter or beyond would be Clans. You'd have to rescale things tremendously, but the idea is of bickering factions barely cooperating to stop an outside invasion force that is somehow both alien yet familiar.

You'd break it up into arcs, the circumstances preceding the invasion where you focus on stuff like Gundam, transition into the invasion where you can factor in stuff like Nadesico's Jovian Lizard plot thread...

Like, one of the issues I think this would face is what's an acceptable way of scaling Tukayyid to like a space station or something. Maybe some sort of artificial planet or something depending on what you're working with...

Question though is if it's acceptable to scale down the scope of Battletech's world like that, or if it'd look excessively stupid. But not everyone is a stickler for that sort of thing like I am, so whatevs.

Well that's the thing, it's an open setting, you can stuff it full of OCs however you see fit. There are established historical events, the Battle of Tukayyid is a really important one for example, but the nature of the game as a pen and paper experience sorta kicks in here, you make your own history within the provided framework.
