I don't sense the despair in IBO's child rape scene. In fact it's very calm, almost soothing in how it's depicted. Acceptable in fact. That's 100x times worse than whatever happened to Ange in the first episode.
But it doesn't matter because ANN's narrative since the first episode of IBO was that is was the best series ever and you can't go against the narrative. Same thing for Kill la kill. 100x times more lewd than Cross Ange, had rape scenes between mother and daughter that were depicted sensually almost to arouse the audience and yet the series is hailed by ANN as some kind of genius post-anime masterpiece. ANN really has 2 weights and 2 measures. The decide from the outset wether a show fits their political narrative, and then stick to it regardless of what happens. You can't take seriously a site like that when it does reviews of anime shows. Objectivity is not in their cards.

Notice him stabbing a man in an alley for food? Kinda a parallel to Mika and Orga's past. Tekkadan's actions have been mostly motivated by their desire to make a better life for themselves, no matter what jobs they have to do and it's gotten to the point where Orga is vying to be the King of Mars. McGillis has done anything he saw fit in order to take over Gjallarhorn (and seemingly the entire world) and there's probably something special about Bael for this purpose.
