In the last few episodes they went with a cold open and instead played the theme song during some other part of the episode. It worked best the first time they did it, where it kicks in right at the end just after Pallad's finished kicking the shit out of everyone.

I was actually not into it until Lazer died. First it was extremely formulaic, with nothing much going on but getting a new gashat every episode. Then the next few episodes they fought each other for no other reason then the plot demanded it. We didn't even get to see nearly as many of the traditional villain scenes because they were holding back Dan. Once Lazer died, things finally started happening.

I think it started going downhill ever since Dr Pacman (a character FROM A CROSSOVER MOVIE) became a BIG part of Emu's backstory and Ex Aid as a whole.
Saying that Emu got the virus from an operation, fine; but why did it have to include Dr Pacman? He isn't relevant at all in the main show and frankly won't ever be after that.

If it's not relevant, why does it matter? It's filled with video games, and video game references, having an actual video game related character be important isn't outrageous. Drive did something similar where it interlaced movie plot into it's normal show plotlines.
