Gun X Sword is a pretty great love letter to the mecha genre and gives representation to all types of mecha while being a fun and entering story itself.

If you care for western media at all the new Voltron series has been pretty solid.

A good start is Build Fighters or G Gundam I think, they're disconnected and pretty "casual." If you enjoy what those have to offer, you can ease into the UC stuff with the 0079 movies and then from there you should follow production order.

6. War in pocket

9. Stardust memories
10. Zeta gundam
11. ZZ Gundam (optional)
12. Char's Counterattack

And optional choice of watching f91 > victory > Turn A to complete the series.

I know everyone tries to convince you that the production order is the right way, but it is not, It is so much more satisfying to see all of the story from beginning to end. For example, if you start with origin, then you have you form a better connection with the characters, and it is much more fun/sad to see them and their fates in 0079. Same with watching stardust memories after Zeta. It is pointless, because it adds nothing (thanks to the foregone conclusion) , but if you watch it before zeta, then it becomes a fun bridge between the two big entries.

Before you watch it, ask yourself, if you want a jumbbeled mess that jums back and forth between different events and times, or do you want a linear, 150 episode long epic, where you start from the bottom and work your way through to the conclusion.

Bring some examples please.
I think it is better to watch origin first, because you will appreciate the characters more. Especially garma. In 0079, he is just a prettyboy who needs Char to help him out and gets rekt by him, but origin makes it more tragic, knowing what Garma was trying to do and what how his relationship with char was formed.
