All sentais got focus on red guy. However, some of them have a better character development or better screen time division among other members (like Flashman with Yellow Flash or Timeranger with Time Pink).

He's so much more of the focus. Yamato is the only character to have his family shown and have his family dynamics and backgrounds explored. We learn why he loves animals so much, meet some of his human friends, and go surprisingly in depth with the death of his mom and his relationship with his dad. The Zyumans all barely have any motivation beyond "get back to Zyuland", and their families are pretty much just mentioned in passing until the final episode when they just show up horribly green screened. Misao, as cool as he was, got even less backstory. Other than "muh low self esteem" and his kidnapping, we don't really know anything about him.

I'd say 7/10, it was a really solid series that always had me excited for the next episode. We got some surprisingly complex character development (especially with Yamato), and ZyuohWhale is easily the best sentai costume I've seen.

Also, I learned today that Mario was in Ichi the Killer. My new headcanon is they're the same character. He's so weird and crazy because being tortured broke him, and part of why Yamato is living with him is to take care of him and make sure he REALLY doesn't go off the deep end.

Finally finished Tiga and Zyuoh with my friend tonight. We can fucking move on and finish Kyoryu. Only half way through and now we'll be starting Kyuranger. Okay have you actually seen Kabutack and Robotack? I'm not claiming to have seen them in full, but I've seen some stuff out of it and it's not a superhero show. It's not even Poitrine, it's closer to more traditoinal Fushigi Comedy and it's really childish and they practically never really fight anything. There's a very good reason Toei doesn't normally admit those two to the list (they probably even back in the day were "Metal Heroes" only for promotional purposes anyway).

The reason for this is because Toei felt that Sentai and MH were starting to overlap too much (and you can kinda see it with B-Fighter being discount Sentai more or less, not that it's any worse for it) so they decided to change the direction completely. Of course nowadays we have Rider and Sentai side by side but I always felt like Rider cannibalizes Sentai a little bit with kids.

Anyway my point is, BF Kabuto is the last real Metal Hero show. Everything between that and Kuuga is very different.

Thoughts on zyuohger?

I dropped it around the octopus zyuoh cube, and just marathoned the rest of it today. The last arc was fantastic, I was genuinely confused why they didn't have the rest of the series be like those final showdowns, Yamato and Misao's development was top tier imo.

All in all, it wasn't as bad as ghost, right?
