How long until ZZ get's good I'm on episode 6 I didn't

When they finally go to space, episode 9 it does pick up. I just finished ZZ and frankly, the beginning is definitely a slog, you can even read summaries of the episodes until said ep9, it won't ruin it too much.
It does takes it times at the beginning, but after that it's quite ok and it picks up significantly at ep 17 or so.
