>chronological order
Idiot
So, more animes like votoms? If not in the bots at least in the feel of grunts.

Off hand I'd certainly recommend Dougram. It was Ryosuke Takahashi's previous joint. Gasaraki would also be fine too.

Gasaraki OP

I started Gasaraki and while the combat and the mechs were good, the mystical mumbo-jumbo put me off. Dougram seems cool tough the mechs are very big. Another I tried was blue gender. The same as Gasaraki, but instead of the mystical mumbo-jumbo was the lousy telling of a great concept, it had everything in hand to be a cool anime and it was between meh/and what the fuck was that.
>>15191894
One could argue that Dougram's aesthetic is simply part of it's time. The wrasslin and leapin was shared with other shows at the time but a small buggy with some rockets is serious cause for concern. In 1982 the concept of "real robot" anime was very much in its infancy.
>>15191894
I think a lot about Gasaraki requires being in it not just for the mecha, but for the vertical slice of Japanese social, cultural and political stuffs that permeate the show.
>>15191894
In Blue Gender's case, Takahashi only was involved very early on for the concept, the show actually got helmed by a gag anime writer and some nobody director.
>>15192954
IT explains the sharp change from the first eps to the very bad final ones. I loved the mechs so is a shame it will never be adapted again.
>>15192893
I will give it a shot then. IT's half as based as Mellowling, the Guerrilla stuff?
>>15192936
I wanted cheap and dumb action to des-estress, it grated to my nerves. Tough if it is worthwhile I would give it a chance in the future.
>>15193035
>I loved the mechs so is a shame it will never be adapted again.
If it helps you feel better, the movie condensation is somewhat better.
>>15193035
It's got a lot of guerrilla stuff, first episode is about attacking a troop train. It also has a sizable amount of political dickery going about as well. You will soon learn to loathe this face.
>>15193539
It condense it and erase the last part?
>>15193581
It's a 60 episodes long one, it's quite the behemoth. Is that good then?
>>15196115
75 episodes. Yeah it's good but it's somewhat an heavy old school formula show during a third of its run.
>>15196205
>Melkia.
Dang its's in the Votoms universe?
>>15196115
Yes, iirc. Funnily enough, it's Geist's director Ohata who helmed that movie.
>>15196265
There's been a theory that everything Takahashi ever directed is in the same universe, but at different times and places.
>>15196281
So the dougram could be an evolution of the Scopedog? Neat.
Kasperl, since you're in this thread, could you repost the image showing Balarant soldiers that's styled like an old WWII-era Soviet propaganda poster? I need it for reasons.
>>15196949
By your command.
>>15196319
>taking it backward
Why you are such a dense motherfucker?
It is pretty obvious that
Layzner->Dougram->Votoms->Panzer World Galient
>>15196265
That map is Melkia OF the Votoms universe, you dumb nigga.
>>15196115
I'd say so. Also if you're hankering for more Votoms I'd highly recommend Armor Hunter Mellowlink.
